funnily enough I thought Carroll starting against Blackburn at home would be a good chance for him to push on. But he's as useless as usual and pretty much just a lump up top who's making up the numbers without actually doing anything.

Have been pleasantly surprised with Downing, who, on a few occasions in that half at least, showed pace, tenacity and desire to get past his man with the purpose and ambition that all top attackers in his position have. We need more of that from him.

A few observations:

1) Adam was in completely the wrong position for that corner - should have been at least a yard closer to the corner flag and closer to the by-line - could easily have headed it out.

2) Our passing has been poor, especially in the midfield - Henderson and Adam need to up their games.

3) Blackburn concede a lot late in the game. Need to keep going, but also step it up. Heroic  sub appearance for Gerrard perhaps?

I think we are playing allright but sorely missing Lucas and the quick recycling of the ball that comes with Lucas. Also with similar player on the team we could win the ball a bit higher more often. Maxi is looking fantastic again and Carroll is as lost as hes been the whole season, needs to score so badly. We are still creating enough to score atleast twice but we just arent lucky...

really, they looked no threat. they still look no threat, it was just an unfortunate O.G. we look a bit laboured in getting the ball back but at least the aren't anywhere near goal. Gerrard will come on for maxi sometime in this next half, sooner hopefully rather than later. not that maxi is having a bad game just gerrard is still 10x more of an influence.
