Our expected line up for today's kick off at lunch time (12:30pm UK time).

Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Skrtel, Konchesky, Maxi, Poulsen, Meireles, Cole, Gerrard, Torres.

Subs: Jones, Agger, Kyro, Lucas, Babel, Ngog, Jovanovic.

A clear, sunny afternoon..absolutely perfect for a match of this importance.

The media are claiming a win at OT will "kick start" our season.....though we are unbeaten in what, 7-10 games thus far.

lfctitch, Ray K will be joining shortly to help cover today's match.

Steve McMahon is complaining we are not creating enough space in midfield, keeping possession but not creating an ends to mean or means to an end on the telly.

Man Utd side for today!

Ferdinand does NOT start at the back. Jonnie Evans will start along side Vidic. Scholes and Giggs start as does Rooney upfront.

Pallister commenting that Liverpool are possibly the stronger of the two sides with Cole, Gerrard, Raul in midfield. That's a lot of "ammo."

A statement of intent from Hodgson putting out a strong, creative side?

1st Min: Man Utd on the attack...Rooney with a cross to nobody in particular in the box from a throw in...

2nd Min: Free kick to Liverpool..Raul M. is playing just behind Torres...interesting..Gerrard is sitting in the middle of the pitch alongside Poulsen...

Carra clears..a deep hoof up field and the Mancs have possession..

2nd Min: A deep ball from the Man Utd half...Carra with an important header to clear but the ball is back in!

Dangeros cross from Giggs into our box...Berbatov goes in and a slight clash of heads with Konchesky and Howard Webb blows for a foul on Konchesky who clears the danger in the 5 yard box...

Ball seems to be pinging around with nobody really having solid possession or control of it for now...electric pace...

4 min: Nani with a shot from outside the box that takes a deflection off Konchesky for the first corner of the day. Giggs takes it..but Vidic heads it very very high and over for a goal kick...

5 Min: Konchesky takes Nani out from behind..wasn't a hard challenge..clumsy yes, but not a hard tackle by any stretch of the imagination. Free kick taken, Nani back on his feet..and Giggs is in possession again..Ball cleared by Skretle, only for Man Utd to win a corner...

6 min:Yet another dangerous corner from Nani which is met by Gerrard and cleared for a throw in!

Well whilst there is nobody else...

So far United have completely controlled the game, winning corner after corner in the first 8 or so minutes. Nani certainly making a good start, down our right handside, which although we have a true left back in Konchesky, worries me we don't have a true left sided midfielder anymore

Yet another corner for Man Utd..Konchesky did what we expected from him..stuck tight to Nani and conceded the corner...Vidic went flying at the corner but missed it..ball is cleared...! Mancs are claiming a penalty as it appears Vidic was fouled.

Reina is out to punch the ball clear after it was crossed into the box...we are UNDER PRESSURE..

8 Min:Another cross back in and Carra clears in time with Nani heading down dangerous looking for Rooney!

Giggs gets a cross in, with Rooney missing it...not close but, still dangerous!

Well United try to claim for a penalty, a dive by Vidic, and the commentators of course agree with it should have been a penalty, in all fairness I think it was 50/50

We are simply not dictating the game at the moment...and giving away 2nd balls and possession to cheaply for my reackoning.

Whose playing on the left wing Madmen? I just don't understand this formation, we have nobody to play it out to there, and its telling so far.

Cole! But he has only had the ball ONCE thus far in 12 minutes of match play....! And gave away possession.

It's Man Utd dictating the match and pace at the moment...with our team trying to slow things down..

Once again, like against Steaua in midweek we seem to lack any sort of direction so far after the first 11 or so minutes. Nobody seems to know where they should be playing and it seems that Gerrard is playing LB at present with Konchesky at Lm, and quickly Gerrard moves back to centre, and the ball goes out on the left, and theres nobody there...

lfctitch, our first attack of the match took 10 minutes to happen..and a misplaced pass from Cole sees our attack breaking down on the left....still early in the match...anything can happen.

Looks like we are trying to keep possession now, ball is being stroked around from midfield back to Carra..and finally a clearance up field..but Man Utd win possession..

Liverpool away support are having a sing..."Steven Gerrard...." in the background....

12 min: Johnson looks dangerous on the right. Ball is laid back for Poulsen who passes back to Carra and the ball is out to the left now..but we lose possession, conceded a throw in and Man Utd have a throw in and possession once again.

What I'm noticing so far Madmen, not sure if you'll agree with me, is Liverpool are being dragged across into the middle of the park because of a lack of width, certainly on our left, and we noticed it there to much space for Nani on the left, and he was quickly through on goal. This formation isn't working so far in my opinion

3) Not creating anything on the right or left thus far...
4) Not had a shot on goal thus far...

I do tend to agree on the formation issue...we simply are not able to contain Man Utd, which is what Hodgson said his MAIN intent was for the match..contain and possession of the ball...We still haven't got a foothold on the match thus far...

20 mins:Scholes gives away a free kick, and maybe a chance to push forward here into the United half. It was hit long, and cleared, and United break with Rooney, straight to Nani, with to much space on the right (for them) again and its played across to Evra, and giggs, and Johnson concedes a corner

Cross comes in but Torres win's the header in the box to clear..but Scholes has a CLEAR OPENING outside the box to shoot..no one was covering the middle area right outside the box...

Ball goes over for a goal kick.

This is worrying..20 minutes in and we just do NOT have control over the match.

23 mins: Johnson overhits a cross into the keepers arms and nani comes away with it great challenge by konchesky and Gerrard finds maxi, who plays it back to poulson, to Johnson, and its back again to skrtel, and Liverpool just can't move it forward with no width, it feels poor because we can't do anything but give the ball away with no players to move it to upfront
