At least he looked like he had a good time mixing with the boys during the winter training. He was smiling in all the pics. Just a question and a serious one, who the fk agreed to signing him? Maybe he had an online medical because of Covid?
I've not seen any suggestion that his injury was anything other than bad luck? Or if anything, him working too hard to get fit and overdoing it?
I think the shit luck of his injury has pushed what was a fairly low risk, low cost signing into "disaster of comical proportions" territory.
Firstly you have to separate this deal from the wider issue of whether we needed another midfielder. We probably did, but signing Arthur at such a late stage was realistically an alternative to signing no-one. It doesn't make it a bad deal, though it may well reflect a bad transfer strategy.
The loan fee of £4m for a Brazilian international with experience at Barca and Juve was not grossly excessive.
We'll never know if he might have contributed more if he'd stayed fit. But largely, that's bad luck (or should be seen in the context of ALL of our players getting injured). I hope he gets a chance to get some more minutes before he goes.
