Maybe we should have signed Fonte instead of Lovren then?

He would win all the Ariel duels.

Fonte would have certainly been the right calibri of player for a club like Liverpool.
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

I do like the look of Ings, whether he makes it or not is another thing though. But I'm not understanding Origi not being thrown in yet to anything, the lad has pace and could have even stayed out wide for Westspam

Ings underlines why we'll finish above Chelsea. According to the press - the Times Knew Roman wasn't going to spend big this summer so we'll overtake them this year. A bold statement perhaps but itallic like it is.

Not generally one for declaring this player or that player must start, but Ings for me, needs to play to give their back four a good going at.

If he doesn't start, I hope he at least gets a good half hour at them.

Got really excited when we were linked in January, and hope he'll come good now we've got him. The thing with Ings is that you know he'll always put in 110% - a quality that's very underrated in today's game.

Looking forward to seeing him today.

Pace movement and unpredictability and a good finisher.

This is what playing for Liverpool means, few players get such rare opportunities on such a prodigious stage to carve out hero status. To impress sufficiently your performance is discussed after decades.

He's not a winger. Like his passion, but he's not much of a dribbler or passer and you need that as a midfielder.
Here's a crazy idea: how about playing players at their favorite positions?

I'm sorry I put such a high expectation on him in my post above, the poor lad got shafted shifted wide left in a 4-5-1, and could offer fuck all support as a striker during a first half that any manager with a modicum of insight would have seized the initiative rather than going for half a point which I did actually applaud at half time.

Not his fault, he'll come good under the right leadership.

Thought he was one of the better performers today, despite being handicapped by his position.

One of the few who seemed to get what sort of an occasion today was, and who was willing to rise to it and put a real passionate shift in.

Was a tough way to make your full debut but felt he done well given where he was playing. That control on the chest was very nice, shot was not quite there but maybe if he was in more of those positions we would of seen more of him!

Not his fault Rodgers loves a 451.

I thought we were going to play a diamond with Firmino as the '10.' Sadly I was wrong.

Great insight in playing him out there I thought, considering he's a centre forward

I think he was supposed to be on the wing, but we predictably sat back so much and invited them to dominate possession, he ended up being far closer to our own goal than their's the vast majority of the time
