Back to invites for a while in the UK

I wanted to quickly let everyone know that due to the huge demand in the UK over the last few days since we launched our mobile service, we are going to have to temporarily reinstate our invite system in the UK. We are invite-only in all our other launch countries but we hope to be able to remove the need for an invite again very soon. Premium users will of course still get instant access as per usual and all current users will be able to use Spotify as normal!

In the meantime there are still a lot of ways to get a Spotify account. If you’d like to sign up for Spotify you can get an invite from a friend (there are lots of them out there already) or sign up to our waiting list. And you can always just register directly for Spotify Premium to get access to all the features on offer including mobile access (for iPhone, iPod touch and Android) along with a few invites you can then share with friends.

Oh and you'll need to be able to find a postcode from whatever countries proxy you get through on, its only a simple google though.

I signed up for free months ago, I don't think I got any invitation codes, but I didn't know about them and didn't look.

I'd like to invite someone who lives outside the 6 licensed countries (so I hope the proxy trick will work for them).

Sadly those of us with normal accounts can't invite other people, and it's only open to those with premium accounts.

The only way around not having an invite is to buy straight into a premium account.

For those who can't get onto Spotify and don't want to go down the illicit route, try www.we7.com

It's a sort of web based alternative to Spotify, totally legal and with no membership required. Not as easy to use but in some ways better. Personally I prefer the quick site namecheck/ad at the start of each song to the long ads on Spotify. You can also download songs ro buy them

Never heard of that to be honest. But when I clicked on, the first thing I saw was "no adverts/$3 mo."

Don't mind ads if it's free. And they don't come "half way through songs" as you suggest.
