I'll be in The Central as well then. As a side note, has anyone ever had problems wearing colours to this ground?

Nope. I've mingled in with them on the tube and in the streets around the ground with no problems in the past.

Same. In terms of colours all I had was a scarf, but it was still visible and I had no issues. I'm going on Sunday and plan to wear a scarf + justice/DBTS stickers.

Takes about 30-40 mins after the match at Upton Park tube station to get on the tube to Central. Big queue goes through the estate.

Hope this helps.

Go to East Ham. 15-20 minute walk from the ground, no queues and the tube is empty.

Excellent thanks.

I usually get off at Plaistow getting to the ground and just follow the crowd - can never remember the way back to that station afterwards.

Walk to East Ham tube station, get on any westbound train, get off at West Ham, change to the Jubilee line, get a westbound train to Canary Wharf.

It was designed to suck as much money out of Olympic tourists as possible. The second you get on the train at Stratford you'll be walking through a set of metaphorical cash magnets.

Still, decent views, and there are better pubs in closer reach in near St Pancras/Liverpool Street.

Won't miss the place as a destination, will as an atmospheric old ground, even if it's full of whoppers these days.
If I were a linesman, I would execute defenders who applauded my offsides.

If i was one of their fans id be absolutely gutted. Cant see any enjoyable atmospheric aspect about the new ground. Not even sure it'll be that great as an away ground for singing.

Same, we'll get a bigger allocation but it'll be full of tourists.

I would imagine most people would still drink around that way, before heading towards Stratford for the game? I don't know of many/any decent pubs in the Stratford area - it's a bit of a shit hole.

Probably stick central, around St Pancras/Liverpool Street for getting the train or tube out to Stratford. The Hamilton Hall Spoons at Liverpool Street station is a good one if you're after a pint and some food, some decent pubs around there too. Not sure there's much of anything around Stratford because it's essentially a shopping centre now.

Thought the ground was great, but in a terrible area. Takes forever to walk to and from the station.

Bit of a weird ground for watching football. When I booked our tickets I picked the back of the lower tier as I'd heard the upper tier is a fair distance from the pitch. The view from the lower tier is decent and you're not too far from the pitch, although with only 25 rows its still a bit too low to get a good overview of the game imo.

The big gap between the two tiers is noticeable and had an effect on the atmosphere from our end. The upper tier were in great voice but the lower was a bit quiet.

The walk from the ground back to Stratford Station for away fans seems completely daft. It took about 25-30 minutes and it felt like we were walking around in circles, getting no further away from the ground for ages. But if you're wanting to go to the station there doesn't seem to be an alternative, as you're directed by police and stewards. Speaking to a few West Ham fans after the match and they seem to think the walking routes have been dictated by Westfield who don't want 60,000 football fans walking directly through their shopping centre to get to the station and also the bother between them and Chelsea earlier in the season has maybe caused away fans to be taken on a bit of a scenic route.

Before the match we had a few pints in Cafe Football in the Westfield Centre as my mate had to meet someone there to sort tickets. Pints of San Miguel £4.50 and loads of TVs showing the Palace vs Hull match. No issue with away fans in there, although in 'The Bat and Ball' two doors down it was home fans only and you had to show your ticket to get in.

Thinking of taking my lad to this fixture in November. Easy away in terms of the travel which he'd love. He's 5 years old though. I'm a bit apprehensive, what's it like in terms of safety around the ground as I know West Ham used to have a reputation for trouble?

Edit: also what are the chances of getting tickets? Would probably have to use the exchange on here?

I took my grandson  (10 yrs) last season no problems whatsoever. After the match though you get directed by stewards and police, we headed to Pudding Mill Lane DLR and we were back to Euston in no time.
LIVERPOOL FC SHOULD NOT PLAY A GAME OF FOOTBALL ON THE 15TH APRIL.

NOT THIS YEAR OR ANY YEAR.
