They look a right mess. Don't think there's anyone in their back 5 worth holding on to, including that raffle winner they've got in goal.
Don't think they're much better going forward either to be honest. Sure they've got Lacazette and Auba who will get goals but outside of them two who else is there? Mikhtarian and Ozil have been dreadful for them recently and look to have been frozen out. Iwobi looked a prospect two years ago but hasn't developed. Ramsey is fucking off in the summer.
Think Torreira and Guendouzi are good signings but they need alot more than that if they're going to be competing again.
It is fair to say it is not working out.
I've had this conversation a few times on here, but I suppose it's what you define as a mess really.
Any realistic fan would understand that after 22 years of being managing by 1 person, the next couple of years at least would be transitional. I think the general expectation was that he at least steadied the ship from the disastrous last 5 months of last season, so I would say he's met that so far.
The hope however, was that we could somehow manage to sneak into the top 4. Now, we've dropped down to 6 this weekend, but we're 3 points off 4th, with Chelsea playing City next & you guys playing Utd in a couple of weeks. We might not make it in the end, but we're still in the fight for the time being at least. I'm not sure many would have given Arsenal much hope of finishing 4th at the start of the season.
Im not saying there's not a lot of work to do, of course there is. Yourselves & City are on a different level just now, but I don't think there's that much between the rest. Perhaps Spurs has a bit more consistency but they've really had to dig results out the past few weeks.
Lets see how the season pans out, & how he works on stabilising the defence over the summer. Being able to pick a settled back 4 would be a start.
