As a colombian, I'm really happy and glad a fellow countryman is finally playing for Liverpool.

I do dread him being benched though. Zidane's instagram was filled with "bald son of a bitch play james" comments for years and years.

We don’t need to worry about that, Klopp is far from bald  :)

Brilliant addition to the squad

Imagine playing against Mane for 60 and then this lad comes on fresh for the last half hour (or vice versa). Teams will be subbing the sub right back

An important signing that sends a message, both to our rivals and to our own supporters.

I think angst has been building for awhile if this place is any barometer to judge by. A fear that we had started to drift a bit, that there was penny pinching afoot as the usual suspects did their usual thing and spent their way out of trouble.

That Spurs "forced out hand" is a bit irrelevant, as we clearly wanted to bag him in the summer; but I guess in the transfer market there are no certainties, so I'm certainly glad we got our man now rather than waiting six months. And it goes to show that the board were also prepared to move now, and act when it was deemed necessary.

I don't think this signals any outgoings this month, unless there are already agreements in place. Since strength in depth is important, there's no sale we can make now that we can't make after season's end, if there truly is a pressing need to balance the books. However there seems to be money available, and this transfer should reassure our players and supporters that the club retains high ambitions.

Even a squad like ours, with top players hitting their peak, needs new blood and a refresh every now and again. So this is a great move all round. It's great to see everyone so enthused. :D

I'm really excited for this signing.  Should be fun to see if he can provide a bit of help this year and then hit the ground running next year since he'll have already been here for half a season.

Also, our next Premier League game should finally have a very strong lineup and bench:

Allison
Trent-Matip-VVD-Robertson
Thiago-Fabinho-Keita
Salah-Jota-Mane

Subs
Kelleher
Konate
Gomez
Tsimikas
Henderson
AOC
Elliot
Firmino
Diaz

Not playing
Milner
Jones
Minamino
Origi

With everyone healthy, there's going to be some good players who won't even make our bench some days.
Raúl barely had a kick. The nearest he got to greatness was when he shook Gerrard by the hand.   Times - Mar 10,2009.

He looks a potentially frightening attacker. Can't say I really knew much about him, but he stood out a bit in those drubbings against Porto. His pace and athleticism look to be a great tool on the counter, and his close control/dribbling seems exceptional, which should help us against the bus parkers. And he's definitely going to improve under Klopp and our coaching staff. Happy days.

His next game is Argentina Columbia next Tuesday. May have to give it a watch.

When you do, bear in mind Colombia have not scored in their last 6 World Cup Qualifying matches.
Uruguay, Brazil, Ecuador, Brazil, Paraguay, and most recently Peru.

Welcome Luis!
Now show 'em you mean business and help us win nr. 20!

And oh yes, I agree with the boss.
We've had some good January buys in our history! That's the time to be signing players at knockdown prices- wantaway players, players who've had a good start but with the jury still out, players refusing to extend a deal, players who've had an injury and coming off it while not "looking" like a good investment, change of manager/owners etc..

And in January, you can get them for much less than what they would cost in Summer- before the higher-ups regroup and re-value!

I think his original point was that, in January, it is good to sign players who you are interested to get in the summer (previous or next). However, it's not good to buy players for the sake of it in January, who you would not be getting at the beginning or end of a season, as a panic buy or just to bolster for 6 months.

That's how I took it..

Reminds me a lot of a Fernando Torres in his runs and athletic ability, and finishing- and a bit of Luis Suarez in his doggedness and tricks.

Reminds me of Luis Suarez with his determination, also of Coutinho for his long distance shots from the left and also of Mane, by the way he dribbles from the left.

Can’t wait to see us flexing our attacking muscles for the rest of the season, watching teams work their nuts off to stop Sadio, Jota and Mo then see Bobby and Luis coming on after an hour. Relentless energy in attack for 90 minutes non stop.
