"I think he would be the first to accept he has improved as a player over that period, along with the team and has benefited from being here, as we have benefited from him." - Rodgers

It's worth repeating. The player that arrived, who would try to beat 5 players on his own and then not have they energy to get his shot away or try to score the most extravagant goals is almost unrecognisable from the player that Rodgers turned him into. Under Rodgers, he became one of the best players in the world, which makes me laugh when people say Rodgers is lucky to have Suarez.

That isn't from a superfan point of view, we'll miss Suarez but Rodgers should take a huge amount of credit for turning him into £75m player and that should also give us buckets of hope for the future. Shame that we'll never see Suarez in a red shirt again though, he's mad and I love watching him play.

Should be fun to watch Barcelona next season! Hopefully we draw them in the group stage and turn them over :D

it didn't help reduce the cost, the cost of suarez is a totally separate issue. It's an appalling use of english if that is what he means. It helped them PAY for Suarez perhaps, but it has absolutely nothing to do with reducing the cost. And if it does then that's the most bizzare transfer of all time.

The cost is what they spend in relation to what they take in, I don't think it's bad English. We get £75 million regardless so it doesn't matter.

£75M according to the Echo. I would imagine they have more info than Balague. But, it won't stop people whose life ambition is to be a moaning quilt

Think this is a good move all round.  He wanted out last year but stayed and did an excellent job (rather that sulk like Torres did).  We got the price we wanted and we have also gotten rid of somebody who could be somewhat of a liability.  An amazing player though that I will have fond memories of.

I trust Rodgers to spend the money wisely.

I believe this....the deal was almost certainly agreed before the WC bite and LFC stood their ground and didn't drop the price.

This £65m is utter nonsense

Who gives a shit if it was £64m or £75m.

As long as the club goes out and spends what it needs to spend on improving the side from last season is all that matters.

81m euros according to Balague.

He gets all his info from the Spanish side, wouldn’t believe anything Barca are telling him. It's 75m pounds unless the reliable journos over here say anything different.

Yeah but he's always got something to say on LFC still, he's about as reliable as that Indy Kalia or that one that wound up Jen Chang.

Can't remember the last time he was wrong though, was right about this whole scenario, Luis Alberto, Sanchez. People kid themselves that he's unreliable because he tends to say stuff they don't want to hear. Anyway, sorry that Balague has taken over the thread.

I'm sure we can find a suitable way of replacing him whether its £75 million or £65 million.

Nice message from the lad, he served the club really well, had his moments with the rumours of wanting to leave etc but at the end he will be remembered as a player who fought hard in every second he wore the shirt, the same cannot be said about other former reds

Good luck Luis

Tbh, I am tired of his antics; and happy to get the £75m. Thanks for all the spectacular performances and £50m profit, Luis :)

More interested in seeing how the team shapes up. I have got a feeling we won't lose much of the goals, and a lot more players from out wide and midfield will be scoring. In particular I think Hendo is going to significantly up his output.
Would love the 19th more and more trophies; but would love even more to see a fan owned LFC.

According to BBC its £75 million. Which by exchange rates with the Euro makes it 94.5 million Euros, the highest ever fee. 0.5 million more than Bale.

I was dead excited when he signed.

The day tinged big time with the departure of Torres who was a big hero of mine, it taught me not to get too attached to players.

So i have seen this day coming a long time, life goes on, no point crying over it

suarez has given us some amazing memories. good luck to him.

You would assume the bigger fee includes add-ons. Barca will quote the smaller fee for obvious reasons and we would include the add-ons.

Sorry to see him leave as he provided us with a creative spark and genius which made goals out of nothing, along with a phenomenal work rate. Whilst we can spend the money to improve the squad, it'll be hard to replace completely (and certainly in one person) what he brought to the team. End of the day though it's LFC that matters and we've lost fantastic players before, found someone new and moved on.

Good luck to him, hopefully he finds in Barcelona what he seeks and can adapt and fit into a Messi dominated team.

Mostly though I'm just glad it's over, hopefully we can buy some quality players with the money soon and have everyone in place for pre-season and no late transfer dealings will be needed.

£75m (ish) burning a hole in our pocket eh?

Barca have too many strikers at the club now.

We should put in a cheeky bid for this mad striker they have there who's fond of a nibble on shoulders from time to time....
