Great pick with The Handmaiden there Mongoose. I have been on Park Chan Wook binge lately and that is one of my favorites. Its his best made film, just flawless.

I think there is a scene where one of character's says something along the lines of

Great picks with Dredd and The Handmaiden, had them both pinned for the action and thriller categories.

Dredd is such an awesome little action flick. So well made and thrilling, a real throwback to the older action films. Violent and gory as hell too, which in tandem with the slo-mo, works great.

The Handmaiden is one of the best movies of the decade for me, hands down. An incredibly fucked up and gripping movie, with one of the best endings you'll ever see. Probably my favourite Park Chan-wook.

Just looking at this movie draft compared to the other we've done, the movies all seem a bit meh. Like they're good movies but are they great. I dunno.

Just feels like they don't make movies like they used to.

Denis Villeneuve is my favourite working Director today.

I think ARRIVAL is a masterpiece and his run of films from 2009 till now is insane.

Mandy and Guardians are the only two films from this period I saw in the cinema twice. Just genuinely balls out great, entertaining movies. Feels like there are more and more films nowadays that are 'good' but not actually that much fun.

Arrival is an amazing film, but unfortunately, one of the worst movie-going experiences I've ever had. A mega-c*nt sitting behind me in the cinema, laughed and made idiotic comments all throughout the movie about how shit and stupid it was. It almost ruined the whole experience for me. There was a specific moment when I was close to tears, and the twat just burst out laughing. I don't think I've ever been so close to punching someone in the face without alcohol being involved. Fortunately, I wasn't the only one annoyed and he was showered with an array of insults by half the theatre. The c*nt kept quiet after that, although it was too late for me.

Loved Mandy, and have rewatched it several times since. Such an incredibly bonkers atmosphere it manages to capture, and so fucking fun.

Guardians is probably the only superhero movie I genuinely love. So fucking funny, entertaining and heartfelt.

Agree about Guardians, there's a lot of superhero films around now but Guardians gets the tone just right. Second one's not bad either

I reckon this era is a terrific one for sci-fi / horror, (there's still a bunch of great sci-fi / horror films that haven't been picked yet), if you're into them, but a little thin on the ground for great dramas or crime films. I can think of a handful of really good ones but after that, I'm struggling.

Actually think there are still some amazing crime and drama films unpicked, including some I would consider among all time greats. Sci-fi and Horror too have a lot of depth.

Documentaries as well, even though there is no categories for them, I expect a few picked as wildcards.

Its a bit light on Fantasy/Adventure (beyond super hero films) and Action films too.

Yeah. It was on my shortlist too. My favorite Coen Brother films are No Country for Old Men, Fargo and Blood Simple. Hell or High Water feels like Coen Brother film in same vein as those three.

If you have not seen Burning I would highly recommend it. IMO it is one of the greatest mystery/thriller films of all time. It's a slow burner but it really builds up the mystery and suspense over time. Every time I watch it, I can't help but think about for days and weeks after.

I haven't seen it in while but I did love it when I saw it around when it came out. I am not a huge fan of sci-fi stuff but I love sci-fi films that focus on human emotions and human conditions.

Also can't wait till they create an AI Scarlett Johansson girlfriend for me. Get on it Chat GPT.

it actually looks like something i'd watch but where do you get these movies?? you dont watch them in the pictures do you?? i've got an amazon firestick with thousands of movies on it but no asian movies in the library
