Rick was from Newton-le-Willows, deffo wool territory so if we can include him then you can deffo have OMD.

And Wah!...  you forgot "Shambeko! Say Wah!", "JF Wah!" "Wah! the Mongrel" John ;)

Got to include Space as well.

If a bit further a field, OMD, Boo Radley's and Pele.

Does this not count?  :)

Strictly OMD are from West Kirby/Greasby, though, hence the 'a bit further a field' part. I thought they were never really accepted by Liverpool bands during the early Eric's years?

Likewise Half Man Half Biscuit are from Birkenhead.

OT but bands who had no business singing about us:

1.In Liverpool, Suzanne Vega
2.The Leaving of Liverpool, The Pogues
3.Mersey Paradise   , The Stone Roses

The Bangles as well and someone already mentioned Jimmy Osmand.

I think that's a backward view.

The Mersey starts at Stockport, so you can't say The Stone Roses (Ian Brown from Warrington)
were not well positioned to comment on the river Mersey.

You should be proud if an American wants to sing about Liverpool.

The Leaving of Liverpool was about getting the ship over to America - so your theory is mis-guided.
Conversion into the opposite - a fool who persists in his folly will become wise.

Thought not - they were around in the mid to late 70's ( my brother was the drummer ) - weren't too bad to be fair , but never picked up the BIG record deal although they were signed to Amazon Records !

Yep !

Used to do a fair bit of gigging in Town - Star & garter , Moonstone and many other places that have chaged names numerous times .They once supported Deaf School at the Camden Palais and also appeared with the Icicle works a few times ( if my memory serves me ) .

Pulled this off the link2Wales website :

Vice Versa – Kirkby band (1970s) managed by Jeremy Lewis owner of Amazon Studios, feat; Lol Connoly (keys), Gary Cheetham (gtr), George Manley (drms) and Steve Jones (bass, voc) (later Skyscrapers). As well as Vice-Versa Jeremy also managed Next

the name sound a bit familiar. usually the independent music scene/john peel i listened to quite often around 1980.

could have been a different band altogether.. all it says on the net is 1970s..doesn't say when in the 70s, but suggesting amazon records, tht's probabbly 1979 onwards

Never made it big or anything, and were only a local band doin cover versions of Floyd, the Police etc etc in clubs / pubs, but I used to love the band Tom Tom, (John Nield and Joe )

Absolutely superb, and released a song called Cry, that I still own on record.

Was dedicated to his son, Joshua, who had sadly passed away through Leukemia, and still has the ability to move me if i listen to it today (16 years later)

Not sure if anybody else remembers them, but they were absolutely superb.

Similar to "Scotch on the Rocks" if anyone remembers them too???
