Yeah you've had it pretty full on during the pandemic what with your work and keeping your mum safe, it's easy to forget about you and your needs.
I need to find a cheap workshop and invest in some tools and equipment otherwise the mess will drive me nuts but there's no rush. I've already started collecting some pieces that I got for free, mainly to practice on before I start on the real stuff.
What sort of things did you enjoy doing when you had the time?
Ah yes, a good outbuilding or shed is probably necessary in order to do that kind of thing, I imagine. Sanding, painting etc doesn't usually go down well when done in the back kitchen. I hope you get something sorted out so you can really get into it.
Yes, it's easy to lose sight of your own needs at times. Being a lifelong sufferer of anxiety disorder and depression I really need to be active, yet relaxed too.
I used to meditate. Just go to nice places and use Mindfulness. I liked going to countryside or beaches with the dogs and just enjoying nature.
I was really into a therapy called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) which I enjoyed studying.
I'd dabble with painting. I was rubbish at it, but enjoyed having a go.
Same with music. I've got an acoustic guitar and a bass. Always had a mental block when it came to actually learning how to play them, but I enjoyed making a noise.
I'd go fishing a lot too. Just out in West Lancs on the Leeds-Liverpool waterway. Quiet, peaceful. Again, just nice to be out in nature.
All simple things really. Stuff to relax and recharge the batteries, but stuff I've forgotten how to do in recent times. Things I can get back to if I put my mind to it though.
