On the opposite side, I heard playing in a supermarket the most appalling cover of Last Christmas the other day.

Some woman giving it all the X-Factor warble and lots of "woahoahoah"s over a slightly slowed-down tune. Don't know who the singer was but I never want my ears assaulted in such a way ever again.
A Tory, a worker and an immigrant are sat round a table. There's a plate of 10 biscuits in the middle. The Tory takes 9 then turns to the worker and says "that immigrant is trying to steal your biscuit"

Vanilla Fudge's version of Keep Me Hangin' On.
A bit of a hippy-type video but a banging version of the Supremes' hit.

Also inspired Deep Purple's style.

Hmmm. Not sure the Beatles version was better than the Isley Brothers rendition. Different but not better.

Here's an interesting one, a fairly average original, followed by a stunning cover where the cover version is then covered with three classic versions of a song as a result. As good as it gets.

Wild is the Wind-Johnny Mathis (Original 1957)

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/v/Fede33vouyc" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" class="bbc_link bbc_flash_disabled new_win">https://www.youtube.com/v/Fede33vouyc</a>

Wild is the Wind-Nina Simone (Live 1964)

Wild is the Wind-David Bowie (1976)

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/v/YsqlXkkEKxI" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" class="bbc_link bbc_flash_disabled new_win">https://www.youtube.com/v/YsqlXkkEKxI</a>

Wild is the Wind-Billy McKenzie (released 2001)

For those of you who are too young to know who Billy McKenzie was, he was the (unique) lead singer of the Associates (early 80s), he died in 1997 aged 39

Slade did a version of John Sebastian of the Lovin' Spoonful's Darling Be Home Soon which shits all over the original.
They played it in their live set regularly and eventually recorded this live version on their album, Slade Alive.
