Apart from the 3rd biggest transfer in the World in this transfer window, of course ...

I know but signing a kid, any kid is our m.o.  :D

He backed the club into a corner with all that shite, it was basically give me a contract or sell me. The club would have been slaughtered if they sold him (wouldn't have got much of a fee for a 31 year old) and Klopp would have been loathe to lose his captain and main leader - so he got the extension. He also played in a team that was 2 games away from a quadruple so keeping that harmony in the squad worked for last season.

Problem is Henderson's head hasn't been right this season. Hangover from end of last season and focus on the World Cup, followed by hangover from World Cup and his legs going.

It's not like he'd be without suitors in the summer if we chose to move him on. Although he's having a bad season he can still bounce back next season if the midfield is sorted out in general (and will have to improve to make the Euros).

Fabinho or Henderson should be sold though (if not both). We can't carry both in the same team.

If, and I think it’s a big if, we decided to sell him there woudn’t be a ton of suitors simply based on how high his wages are.

If that’s the proposal, why aren’t we all over it?

Probably because Benfica still haven't accepted it. They still want the full €120 million upfront ...

It is brutally simple. You don't throw a player under the bus and say he doesn't deserve a contract when you need him to play for you.

Klopp managed Dortmund where players were continually leaving. Quite often he has had to manage players whose deals were ending or were leaving on a free. He managed to keep them onside and playing right up until they left.

Look at him labeling Origi as World class.

Do you have a sort of algorithm to work out if what Jurgen says is true or a lie?

The issue for me is the lack of recruitment when we were on top. What is being missed is that if we hadn't renewed contracts then we would have had Mane, Firmino, Salah, Henderson and Fabinho all with their deals running out at a similar time. The lack of planning was breathtaking.

It's an aversion to signing players and spending money. Releasing players doesn't mean new signings if we aren't getting transfer fees.

Salah was an example of needing to protect your asset. If we hadn't renewed him we'd be bemoaning the fact that we lose him for nothing in the summer.

City, for example, are more relaxed about cutting players loose  in their 30s when their legs have gone at the end of their contracts (Fernandinho, Aguero, Silva, Toure) and then spending big to replace them. That's not our model.

How was it not planning though?  We made the decision to renew all of those players which would indicate that there was a plan, just not one that you, or to be fair, a lot of others agreed with.  You can certainly speculate on why we renewed those players rather than replaced them, of which you have endlessly, but you don’t have any evidence to back up your opinions on the matter.  And, again, to be fair, nobody else does either.

If Benfica do accept the €120 million in 6 installments proposal by Chelsea, I suspect that we will be informed about it and allowed to match it. Then we will know if our interest in Fernandez was genuine ...

If that’s the proposal, why aren’t we all over it?

It's only been eight months since we were two matches away from being the first side to win all four trophies.  Eight months.  I still can't really wrap my head around that.

Alas Al…I mentioned Lamptey, Gross and Mitoma because someone else did the same :) Ben White and Cucurella in particular you’re spot on, not a day goes by when I don’t wish we’d had Ben White tearing up our right flank for the last few seasons, and Cucurella on the left. Oh what we might have achieved.

Now this time…stop. Read. Digest. Then reply if you need to.

As I said you are cherry-picking. You are taking the post of one person and then trying to use it to create a strawman.

What percentage of the fan base do think want us to sign Lamptey, Gross and Mitoma ?
