Love this fella to bits. One of the best midfielders I've had the pleasure to watch in a red shirt.

That's the one, great piece of skill.

fucknut Garth Crookes should see these skills and put those in his team of the week rather some pillock that has a half decent game BUT also scores a goal to get into his team. Saka. Madisson and McGinn ahead of Fabinho

Calmness personified, never put a foot wrong.

absolute steal we got him for, but you can say the same about Jota as well.

Jorge Mendes gets a bad rep, but we have done fantastic business with him signing those 2.

Another imperious performance. We became so used to it that we downplay the privilege of having a player of that quality grace our midfield.

If so, how on earth does he get ahead of Fabinho (and Fernandinho) as DM?

He played alongside Fabinho in the previous match. The Brazil media were actually purring about Fabinho's form during the recent international break. They demolished Uruguay

Reminds me of Mascherano.  ;D  ;D Energetic, passing accuracy, positional sense when the opposition is making a run towards the goal, intelligent marking of opponents, and hard-tackling style of play...

Fabinho and Thiago have played together, (since Thiago came back from injury) 13 times in all competitions, winning EVERY game, and keeping ten clean sheets along the way.

13 TIMES!!  8)  8)

wow.

plus in the last few games all 3 have been on the pitch together, Fab+Thiago are allowing Hendo the freedom to express himself a hell of a lot more.

If we're objective, it's probably a toss up between him and Kante. At least in the PL anyway.

Kante would be boss in a Klopp team.

Without Fab in the team, the centre is as soft as melted cheese. Even the normally cool Thiago panicked a bit. fab is as crucial to our spine as much as Kante is to Chelsea. Hopeful Fab stays healthy.

It’s time to have more faith in Morton. Better have a specialist alongside Thiago and Hendo/Keita than having He do and Thiago fill in Fab’s boots.

I think physicality is going to be a factor for Klopp in terms of chucking him into PL games. Fabinho wins so many aerial duels, will Tyler Morton be able to manage that now?

Konate and Matip can help with that. Morton’s brain is his advantage. I feel that Hendo and Thiago can both play the role, but neither is natural. You saw the gaps against the barcodes, that will be punished if they do it against Spurs. I could be wrong, but that’s my take on the situation.

We weren't swashbuckling against Newcastle in attack as well, in fact, we were gifted a couple of goals by Newcastle themselves. I wouldn't take one game as an example of anything let alone gaps in Thiago's or Hendo's games or their ability to play a role. Thiago made two unnatural mistakes in that game, that's where the buck stops.

Konate and Matip cannot vacate their positions to help Morton win duels in the middle of the park, a big problem happened when Lovren tried to win duels for Can and then we were punished in certain games for that a few years ago. I'm happy that Klopp has solved that problem for the most part.

Morton is a good talent, he may be able to play one of the CM positions in PL, but to play the DM position, he needs to bulk up a bit and get to win a lot of duels (ground and air).

We were pretty swashbuckling. 23 shots! 8 on target. As for being "gifted" goals by Newcastle, isn't that simply the way we play? We force teams into errors high up the pitch with our swashbuckling style.

They were my three stand outs too. He just kept winning the ball back so easily and helped us keep them pinned back for most of the time he was on the pitch. Probably an hour back having been out for a while was the plan but we definitely lost our way a little when he went off.

Hadn’t played or trained for a week, so no surprise at all. Same with VVD, but a different position on the pitch of course.

Klopp talked about our lack of rhythm which was there in patches at the start but we lost it.

We are a team that have shown on several occasions that a break from playing kills our rhythm. Remember that warm weather training session in Spain that saw us struggle for rhythm on return. Not the only occasion.

Fabinho and Van Dyke hadn’t played for 12 days which included an isolation from training with the squad. Both showed they were not their normal selves. Virgil passed it into touch in the first half which was a first.

I’m interested to see how Klopp reacts to team selection when we play Arsenal twice with PL games at the weekends.
Will he play a less rotated team although the loss of 3 players to ACN will limit his choices.
We are definitely believers and we’ve won the fucking lot!

Probably planned due to Covid.
