We're staying in the Travelodge in Stonedale Park and watching the game at Anfield. Hoping to arrive early afternoon and wanted to go into town for a bit before going to Anfield - anyone know the best way of getting to town from the Travelodge? I'd rather not drive so I can have a beer whilst we're in town.

Can't wait! Got tickets for the Bierkeller and all the travels arrangements are now sorted. Should be in Liverpool for midday :)

Where is the place to go after the match is finished and we win? In 2005, I ended up running naked through the Williamson Square fountains. Not doing that again!

Looking for a bit of advice please folks, getting the bus from Manchester airport to Liverpool One at 1750 next Saturday and due to arrive at 1845 but there's a stop off at edge lane drive at 1825, would I be better getting off there and if so will I be able to get a bus/taxi handy enough?
Not familiar with that area at all but doesn't look too far from anfield on the map.

Thats the national express one, right? It usually gets into Liverpool one early, but depends on traffic obviously. If you're getting off at edge lane, tell the driver beforehand, its a request stop. You might get lucky and he'll let you get off somewhere handy.

Depends on the route the bus/coach takes.

Assuming your going to Anfield and the route is the M62...

You should be able to pick up a cab on Edge Lane - best spots would be at the top by Rathbone park - you're quite near to old Swan too, or if its further down by Tunnel Road - there you've got traffic coming through from Toxteth towards Kensington.

Factor in you have 20 mins extra from the final stop and you could always book a cab form your mobile before you get off..

I used to work on Edge Lane, but must admit didn't take much notice of cabs as I was usually in my car.

Cheers lads, didn't know it was a request stop. I'll ask the driver what he thinks might be best.

That Travelodge is right next to the East Lancs Road so you can get a bus in to the city centre . Will take about 20/25 minutes. Taxi will take less time but cost more!! Sure reception staff at the hotel will guide you.

You can get the 19 from there to town, it goes down by Stanley Park as well, so it’ll be easy getting the ground and back.

anyone reckon the echo ones will be half decent? Not sure if everyone will have already sorted themselves and be turning up to a half empty arena.

This is what I'm worried about.

I might still go and chance it in town

It's not in the Arena itself because of the UFC, it's in the Auditorium next door/upstairs/downstairs. Much smaller, cinema style.

Did a bit of research on places that aren't doing tickets/reservations as I was looking for places for a group of 5. We're going to Anfield now but here's the list I came up with.

Thomas Rigby
Sound
Font
Fly in the Loaf
The Scholar
Lady of Mann
The Excelsior
Rose & Crown
O’Neils

All of them will probably require you getting in early (2 or 3ish I reckon). There's the Championship playoff final to pass the time and many of the places do food.

There are a couple of random clubs doing reasonably priced tickets that wouldn't require such an early start. Not sure if they'll have a dress code.

Kingdom - 4pm open £6 ticket (central)
Level - 5pm open, 7pm last entry. £5 ticket (central)

Usually get the train to the match, but a couple of people have decided to drive instead. Any recommendations for a car park for the Anfield screening?

Insane that we've almost sold out our ground for a screening. Not sure any other club in Europe could do that. Gonna be a cracking atmosphere.

More for a screening than City can get for an actual CL game ;D

They get a lot as well - it's not as if the stadium was packed with no space though.

I think the point that you are making overall though is right - for an occasion like this and with the modern ability to big screens and the like - many other teams would be able to do the same thing whether we'd like to admit it or not.

Hi guys,

Planning on coming to Liverpool from Australia over the champions league weekend for 4 days. Just wondering if there's a place for us to watch the game with other fans that will be rocking?

I don't want to come all that way and not watch the game. There's like 4 of us, ticket price is not much of an issue as long as it's not overly ridiculous.

Thanks guys.

Fucks sake I bought tickets for the Olympia on Tuesday and I've just found out it's over 18s only, the website didn't tell me that at the time of booking. I've got a 16 year old coming in our group of 8 and he looks about 5 so I doubt I can blag it. Does anyone know if they'll give me a full refund on cancelling this? I can't afford to drop another £80 to find somewhere else without getting that money back first.

Edit: My confirmation email says under 14s must be accompanied by an adult so I have conflicting information on whether or not under 18s are allowed.

Being more superstitious then some people, after a few beers yesterday I knocked on the door of the house I lived at in 2005, to ask if I could watch the game at theirs. It wasn't the same people who moved in after us and the lad at the door couldn't speak any English. I left before the bizzies were called.

I'm going to replicate it as much as possible where I am now. I clearly remember sitting on the floor cross legged for the first half, deliberately smashing a glass on the kitchen floor at half time and standing alone in the front garden for the penno. And then pouring a pint over my head in disbelief when we won.

It still brings out the goose pimples.
