Wow, great stuff. Atalanta on Wednesday evening and Brighton at 12.30pm on Saturday is a joke.
He's spot on. Why on earth are we playing on Saturday lunchtime. They didn't want five subs. It's ridiculous. Going to damage some players career's this schedule.

Biggest compliment I can give to tonight's performance is that I completely forgot Mo Salah existed for 90 minutes. We were brilliant!

I agree. Didn't notice all the players who were absent.
I always said we had the best two teams on Merseyside… Liverpool and Liverpool Reserves.

It already has. They’re not just getting muscle injuries - the number of knee injuries that aren’t caused by tackles, awkward falls etc is really concerning. Most top flight players fully recover from them, but it’s never a slam dunk.

Jota is such a huge difference. Ultimately he isn’t as good as the other three - but the drop off on a game by game basis isn’t noticeable as it was last year when Divock or an out of position Ox slotted in.

Anyone else a little surprised at how quick VAR made their mind up over our disallowed goal in the 1st half? From the brief replay they showed, there didn’t look too much wrong with it?
I agree that there didn't seem much wrong with it, but is that a VAR issue? If the ref calls a foul on the keeper, I don't think that's something VAR will intervene in. If the ref had called no foul, VAR could have ruled  out the goal if they had seen a foul in the incident or in the buildup, but if the ref calls foul, VAR aren't allowed to speak up. They can intervene on penalty calls, on awarded goals and on red cards.

I might be wrong on this, but I don't think I've seen a ref call a foul in the build-up to a goal, and then VAR tell him it was actually a goal.

Everyone knows keepers are heavily-protected species anyway.

Whatever about playing Champions league on a Wednesday and then premier league at half 12 of a Saturday, but that fucking 3 game international break is an actual fucking joke I’m still stunned by the stupidity.

Not as good? Not sure about that. He’s one of the first names on the team sheet at the moment.

Plenty of people on here laughing at Oleh after they beat Everton complaining about the schedule....

A lot of players are running the risk of getting fucked up just to suit the telly companies and FIFA, oh and the small clubs who think they're immune from it because they're not in Europe without realising their squads of 8-9 regulars who would play every game under normal circumstances are also at risk of injury due to a condensed season

Fucking madness

Brilliant performance tonight. Not a lot to be said that hasn't already really.

Said to a mate that Gini, Naby & Curtis may well be our best 'total football' midfield. They were absolutely brilliant, disgusting at times...

Then I remembered we've also got some bloke called Thiago Alcantara on the books and laughed at how much better we can be!

Nah, you just can't touch a keeper these days without it being called a foul (unless it's Burnley on Alisson).

Brilliant performance, up there with the Chelsea and Arsenal matches. Both Mane and Bobby played really well but were a little wasteful. Had they been a little sharper, this game would've been done after 60min and we could've sorted our GD out!

Glad Bobby got his goal in the end, a great header and there were signs his link-up play is returning which alongside scoring bodes well for us.

Hope Naby isn't too badly injured, he had a good game as well.

Great way to start the week.

Absolute quality. All good performances, but Curtis deserves a mention. Huge pressure on him today and he played a blinder.
I think the same, can't stand him, but if you could have a £1million pound cheque or steve bruces head hollowed out and filled with pound coins which would you have?

Loved that performance, just fantastic.

Without any overstatement or hyperbole, Foxes couldn’t complain had that been 7-0, such was our total dominance. I was fearful when Gini was on the end of that awful tackle, but he carried on as though nothing had happened. He’s almost certainly not flesh and bone - he’s tungsten.

I'm more surprised that they didn't give a penalty against Matip, looked stonewall to me.  :-X

One of the main problems with those is that they show the ref the replay in slow motion, after he’s usually waved it away in real time. Nearly all of them seem to look nailed on in slow mo, the Matip one was flicked up at him from about a foot away, luckily it wasn’t pulled up for a 2nd look.

Difference was he was actually in the ground for the match, and well, when you are in Anfield at a game like that it will affect you regardless of your allegiances.

That was a paddling. We had 9-10 players out and beat a good team like they stole something. All things being equal, we're by far the best side in this league. Comparing Spurs to us is downright insulting.

Looks to me like the most important game so far this year was the loss to Aston Villa.
It has just completely got rid of all complacency and galvanised them so much.

Those two games a challenge in terms of timing next week, the only good point is the Atalanta game is at home and we get more time before the Ajax and Wolves games the week after. The challenge is that, with the number of injuries, we cannot rotate as much as we might like. I suspect Rhys Williams did enough in the first game to allow Matip a rest and I hope Shaqiri was rested just for that purpose today.

Lovely touch from Allison today, class man. Also good to see the players support Firmino when he scored. That is team spirit.

I doubt Shaq will be available for the games this week as he has a muscle injury, so will be out for some time. Hopefully, Thiago is close and will be back for Brighton!

I thought we'd have too much for them but wasn't expecting us to keep them utterly silent for 90 minutes, great to have Fabinho back too, hopefully he and Matip can have a decent run together.

Shame about the knock to Keita but we have 5-6 players now who could return any day, so hopefully with internationals out of the way and progress in the CL close to guaranteed we can get a few players back, rotate a bit more and have some easier games against smaller, tired squads.
