They're idiots if they've not been having a few sessions a week on the new surface, knowing them they've reserved it for dancing though.

Even if they have, it doesn't compare to the real thing. I think they would be mental to have possibly their biggest game in decades held at their new stadium as their first ever game.  Despite City being big favourites, this Spurs side can beat anyone on their day. Its the best Spurs side I've seen in my almost 26 years on this planet. Its just a shame for them they are up against the best City side of all time. Still, they can do it (though I just think City want and need this too much). Though I think I'd rather they get put out and then avenge their elimination by beating City in the league.  ;)

Thats not hard to achieve ;D

First game at the new stadium, the players and crowd will be buzzing and fired up to get off to a win.

Claiming their first game at the new bowl will be Palace

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47604224

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed they will play the first game in their new stadium against Crystal Palace on Wednesday, 3 April.

The opponents for Spurs' first game at the stadium was dependant on Brighton's FA Cup campaign, the Seagulls beating Millwall to advance to the last four.

The Palace game will be followed by Tottenham's Champions League quarter-final against Manchester City, on Tuesday, 9 April.

So, apparently, they want to change the name of White Hart Lane Rail Station, which is actually in White Hart Lane, to "Tottenham Hotspur"

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2019/mar/17/london-train-station-to-be-renamed-after-tottenham-hotspur-club

The railway station near Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium is to be renamed after the club lobbied the London mayor, Sadiq Khan, and his transport office, who had insisted that the club should pay more than £14.7m for the privilege.

The north London Premier League club first approached Transport for London (TfL) more than two years ago wanting to change the name of White Hart Lane station to Tottenham Hotspur.

A memo of understanding between the club and TfL, controlled by Khan, is now being drafted but Spurs won’t have to meet the multimillion pound asking price which it has vigorously contested.

...

Only reason I can think of for this is that it would be embarrassing to have the name in the area if the new Stadium isn't going to be called WHL...

Thankfully it has no bearing on the outcome of our season. The only thing possible I suppose would be City beating them in their new stadium, and Spurs resorting to filthy tactics because of it then taking their revenge in the league game at City. Here's hoping.

I thought UEFA said they weren’t allowed to change their stadium during the knockout stages. They were allowed to change it between the group stage and the knock out stage but once they’d started a stage in one stadium they had to stay there?

Or did I imagine that?

Anyway, they blatantly lied to the FA at the start of the season and I’m surprised they are so cool with it.

Edit: not that I’m arsed in terms of results they might get. If they get a boost from it then United, Arsenal and Chelsea might have something to say. Diddums. If it adversely affects Spurs then it serves them fucking right.

The renaming of the tube station is hilarious. They approached TfL, who quite rightly realised that this could lead to other companies trying to sleaze their way in. I understand they sometimes chance the name for 24 hours for charity or social initiatives, but that's about it. But they were given the option of maybe a 10 year deal as long as they paid for it, obviously realising what a big deal Spurs are in the area and the hope it leads ti more regeneration. The cheeky buggers then baulked at the price of almost 15mil, which given the fact that the TfL map is used commercially all over the world on everything from tea towels to butt plugs (probably..like 4d advertising you get the smell of london too) is actually a good deal for advertising rates. They then cheaped out and tried to pay for an escalator at one station because Levi can't help himself but to go to the wire for a deal and he hasn't been able to do that for a while cause they haven't signed any players.

To me it looks like there's going to be a huge stadium name deal (was rumours of Nike a few weeks ago, but that's probably just cause of the kit deal and making  2+2=5) and they still want the Tottenham Hotspur name used in conjunction with the area. Oh, it's probably definitely got nothing to do with the fact that Arsenal have a tube station named after them..

Surely the station is used for the wider area 365 days of the year and not just for the 22 or so home games they may have during the season?

Typically naming rights for things like sports stadiums go to a large-but-obscure company as it instantly gets them into the public renown. I'd be surprised if it was Nike or a similar type brand.

Hmm Emirates? Etihad? Walkers? Reebok? American Express? Bet365? Pirelli? Wouldn't call those obscure.

Your correct about a few, such as the KP and the Liberty and the Ricoh, but I don't think there's enough to class as a trend.

It's also true that the likes of Nike and Adidas and other major sportswear/equipment companies tend not to sponsor stadiums, as counterintuitive as that might at first seem. Perhaps the big players do not want to alienate customers by linking themselves too visibily to one stadium?

Spurs fan's must be consoling themselves that despite dropping out of the title race (and will struggle to keep top 4 IMO), I don't see Pochettino leaving in the summer now. Zidane has gone to Madrid and Utd must surely appoint OGS, so where else could he go? PSG or Bayern the only realistic destinations?

Zidane has gone to Madrid and Utd must surely appoint OGS, so where else could he go? PSG or Bayern the only realistic destinations?

If Kovac is able to win the league this season then I dont think he will be sacked and will be given the chance to rebuild. Bayern are actually a well run club and dont just panic fire and hire managers like Real Madrid and Chelsea.

Also can't see Tuchel being sacked either, he didn't do poorly in the Champions League and i am sure they will give him one more season. Just unlucky with the horrible VAR call.
