some are better than others

the second one going in to Normandy is great

the last couple are a little slow

I remember watching the one at Bastogne in the winter on an off dayfrom work

you heard the sound of scrunching snow under their feet, then going out to the mail box and hearing the same sound and thinking I was glad to be going back to warm house and not a dangerous cold fox hole

True, Carentan is also a cracking episode.
Bastogne and Breaking point are so well made, that everyttime I watch them I got the feeling is cold where I am too.
Is an excellent miniseries, as someone said before, you can watch it over and over again and never get bored.

It did ruin it for me. What I really liked about Band of Brothers was that it felt like a well done series with not so much Hollywood in it. And that's what Mr.Bando took away from me by saying "This and that wasn't true", "This should have been like this" etc.

He did put up a warning text at the top though, so I guess I have myself to blame for reading it.

Where my love for Band of Brothers used to be, there is now a void.

I used the Band of Brothers OST for an event tonight and it's quite good, in case anyone likes some good instrumental/orchestral music.

I read that Bando guys critique of the first two episodes, the ones I've rewatched so far. He is doing nothing but nitpicking and seems a bit pissy that they didn't consult him about the programme.

The one image that gets to me is the soldier with the haunted look on his face and then he drops his helmet. His name escapes me right now.

Fellas...please...DON'T WORRY ABOUT BANDO!  Why is he suddenly more credible than Ambrose?  He just nitpicks little bullshit more and more to make it look like he's got this massive scathing case, when he's got nothing.  He's a nobody and probably just jealous he couldn't be involved in BofB.  Don't let artistic genius be ruined in your mind by the type of person who wants to tear art down because he's so selfish that if he didn't create it, he wouldn't have it to be admired or enjoyed by the world.

Of course Band of Brothers isn't 100% factual.  No history or war film could ever be, it's just impossible.  But most agree they'd gotten all the major stuff very accurate, and even a surprising amount of the detail and atmosphere was dead-on.  All that matters is it captured the spirit and moment of events the world should never forget, and a small few have ever been able to lay a claim to something like that.

Just enjoy it boys, it's simply outstanding stuff no matter how many grumpy complainers vie for their own attention.

I've just read the brando site and I dont think it will affect the way i see the series. He did say he liked the series overall and he was only a little dissapointed with small inaccuracies.

If you assume that the Band of Brothers put onto screen was 100% accurate (right down to equipment and dialogue) then yes you may be surprised. But no war film (or mini series) will ever get it all right.

If anything Brando has helped me understand some of the history better. Its a good to get another opinion form someone who knows what he's talking about.

A few dialoge mistakes with what was be said in 1944 I can look past because everything else in the series is so moving.

Exactly, the series is accurate enough in record and in spirit (exponentially moreso than many Hollywood movies where the Battle of the Bulge takes place in sunny Southern California).  It's not like it ends with Ike & Churchill engaging in hand-to-hand kung-fu combat with Hitler and Tojo above a pit of man-eating crocodiles to settle it once and for all.

I'm bumping this for the impending release of The Pacific, the follow-up to Band of Brothers, set in the Pacific Theatre.
I have read one of the books it's going to be based on, With the Old Breed, and it's a knock-out.
Pretty much the same production team as BOB - it should be fantastic.
If anyone knows when this is going to be released, let us know!

Well, at the end there isn't so much action, but I still find it interesting to see what happened after D-Day, Bastogne and all that. You can always read about these important battles but you don't get much about the last months.

Just lent this to my dad as he's at home with the flu and he's well into it. I'd been telling him to watch it for ages but he never had time but he's completely hooked now!

Going to lend him Downfall next.
