Bayern play on 22nd December and their next game will on 18th January. Nice little break for them to get players back from injury and others to recharge. Meanwhile we'll be playing every couple of days.

Very happy with the draw, Bayern is shite now, and Klopp should be very familiar with them.

Klopp hasn't managed in Germany for about 4 years.

Mind you Bayern have pinched a few of his Dortmund players so he may not be that much out of touch.

I think short breaks are good but to long and you lose rhythm.

Sat 16th Feb  FA Cup 5th round
Tue 19th Bayern (h)
Sat 23rd  MU (a)

Sat 9th Mar Burnley (h)
Wed 13th Bayern (a)
Sat 16th Fulham (a)

All those PL fixtures can/will be moved for TV, but that's not the worst schedule at all. Bunch of mid-to-lower table teams either side of the big games.

they already are finding form really, bit late for them in the league, but still, they are now scoring and starting to get a more consistent run going.

Not expecting them to go big on transfers in January though.  They may do something, but the idea of them suddendly throwing a lot of money around then, can't see it, they will more likey wait till summer.

Yeah, I doubt they'll sign anyone in January, as German clubs tend to not make permanent moves then. Plus, they'll be looking to replace Ribery and Robben in the summer. Bayern were scoring around the same rate as Augsburg a few weeks ago, but have perked up. The biggest issue will be whether or not they decide to put everything into the CL. They won't finish outside the Top 4 in the Bundesliga, despite their slow start

Great draw.

They have often said they are shit scared of facing us in the CL.

I think we will beat them easier than a lot of people think.

They’ll be difficult no doubt about it. They have a great history just like we do in the comp so mentally that counts for a lot.

Think we can get the better of them however just a shame we play them at home 1st leg

It's still too early to tell but I believe this is the best year to play Bayern for the past 10 years. Their form isn't as good and they are there for the taking.

Actually think against Bayern the 2nd leg away from home is better for us. My reasoning is that we will score so if the 1st leg is a narrow home win for us or a score draw, I still believe we'll score 1 or 2 over there and that is added pressure for them.

Though let's not take it for granted as they have lots of experience and good to exceptional quality even if their current results aren't suggesting it.

My prediction is a 2-1 home win for us and a 2-2 draw in Munich.

Other than the Super Cup is it back to 81 since we last played Bayern in a competitive match?

I actually quite like the draw as there’s very little shared history between us so no extra baggage one way or the other. Takes a lot of the mental/psychological side out of it than if we’d drawn Madrid, Juve or Dortmund for example. Should just be a case of 2 teams going for it and the best (us) will win.

Plus it’s a bit more exciting playing against a big European rival you haven’t faced for generations.

The Allianz isn't the fortress for Bayern as it once was. In fact, they're doing worse at home this year than they are away. In the overall scheme of things, it probably doesn't mean that they're easier to play at home than away, but at the very least it means that they can be had there.

So if we get on top of things at Anfield, it should be ok. The only worry is to not concede goals at Anfield with VVD out. It really depends now on Lewandowski's form in February I think. Because the rest of their squad at the moment is decidedly average. Muller is lukewarm this season, their second best player is an Arsenal reject, and Coman is having really tough injury issues. Robben and Ribery are obviously on the decline, Rodriguez is still very inconsistent, and they're leaking goals at the back at an alarming rate. We can't have picked a better season to face them.

No Virgil against Lewandowski at Anfield is a bit of a worry though. That being handled and normal service resumed up front, my prediction would be 2-0 at home and 1-1 in München.

They have a very good midfield in Goretzka,Thiago,Martinez and Rodriguez, any of them can play in there and do a very good job.

Their weakness is their center-halves and dealing with pace.  Won't be an easy game by any means, but if Kovac is still there imo that's a plus in comparison to Klopp.

Some of their lot are confident since we lost away from home, they think we got lucky. Prepared to be surprised.

Nothing earth shattering as you can imagine! Just a lot of nice compliments, but a lot of confidence too. The stuff you'd expect!

Can I be the first to say “Don’t let Robben cut inside onto his left foot”.

Reckon that will be every other comment in the pre-match threads.

Love when you hear people moan about him, 'he's made a career out of cutting in on his left foot'. Yeah he has, and a fucking great career at that. Many have tried to stop him, and most have failed. Not the same player now though could be hanging up his boots come the summer.

they have us at 48%, Bayern at 52%, I think more like 70-30, either way it should be a cracking tie.

I like this draw a lot. A real glamour tie, something that was missing on the run last season, Porto, City and Roma are all good to varying levels but none match that of a Munich. I think we have a good chance  of going through and it’s too early to speculate because injuries and signings may happen in the period inbetween. But we should be confident at home even without VVD. If we take a commanding lead, say a 2-0 + then we have a superb chance. Don’t underestimate Bayern despite their early season form..
History will be kind to me for I intend to write it - Rafa B.
