Handymen all over Salford licking their lips at the thought of earning a few bob transferring the commode and toilet roll holder to his club car.
13mins - Bournemouth have gone home. Utd kicked off anyway. Still 0-0 as Smalling passes it back to De Gea.

He has his A licence. He doesn't have the Pro Licence he would have needed to be the full time manager though. I suspect that's part of the plan. Van Gaal for a year or two while Giggs completes the course, then he takes over.
That's transparent, isn't it? So how do you sell the 'project' to new recruits? We have a great manager but he may or may not have security short-term and medium-term we've got Giggs. No, we don't have Champions League. Massively inflated wages? Yeah, that's not a problem.

A bit unfair, even playing on his own against you lot he would still score a few.

Anyway do think this is a good appointment. They will no doubt be an improvement on last season.

Can easily see them being closer in points difference to Spurs and Everton. In fact wouldn't at all be surprised if they did overtake both of them.

Won't be as bad as Moyesie as the main difference is that Van Gaal has actually won shiny things recently and actually knows what he's doing, Can't wait for his press conferences next season, From what i've seen and heard i can imagine him throwing the microphone at the reporter and storming out if he gets any "tough" questions, or running onto the pitch to sock the keeper for conceding a goal... either way i hope much hilarity will ensue,

PoP, I posted this in the general United thread over the weekend. Curious to know your thoughts on the matter:

Haven't seen it discussed in here (maybe I just missed it), but I'm curious what effect it'll have on van Gaal having Giggs as his #2. I'm assuming that was a condition hoisted upon him by the United hierarchy and not his ideal coaching set up. It's probably a question for PoP to answer if he's around. Obviously United are looking for some long-term continuity and giving Giggs the chance to work under a top coach and learn his trade, but what are the practical ramifications in the short term before the eventual hand-off takes place? I understand the desire for creating that continuity, but they're also in a very precarious position in the here and now and one would think that if you're hiring a respected coach to dig you out of it you'd hire him under the conditions that have made him successful in the past. The manager's right hand man seems like a pretty important position to hand to someone with whom van Gaal has absolutely no working relationship. I'm not even thinking in terms of Giggs undermining him like has been mooted with Moyes, but more the dynamics of the coaching arrangement. I find the whole thing pretty interesting.

Guys a loon

Also, hos coaching beliefs - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/managers/louis-van-gaal/10838106/Louis-van-Gaal-My-coaching-secrets.html

Not for nothing - but it was brought to my attention in the early days of the Moyes thread that some United fans on some of their forums had a good old laugh at PoP's expense when I pointed out that Moyes' method of training would injure their explosive players more, and would fatigue their quicker players while making their slower, more endurance-based players fitter. Now, along comes Van Gaal saying exactly that same thing, and showing up Moyes' fitness methods to be very antiquated. I wonder what their reaction will be now, haha.

At least they now have a manager who understands the modern way of training the body for football.

Just wait for the first poor run and the campaigns to get Giggsy in start up.
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Throwing 100 grand a week to 18 year olds probably isn't a hindrance either.
