It's been over an hour here and ezan sounds from mosques simultaneously, then asking people to go outside for Quran and Allah.
Likely bid to get AKP supporters on streets (just the way Erdogan asked to). In Islam, if you hear ezan in unusual time (prayer calls from mosques) it means call for jihad.

take care mate.....

edit: thought you where in Tureky from your post but seen your in NY...either way , everyone take care the idots are afoot!

Turkey is fucked up now,Erdogan gonna seize complete power now, remove all enemies and bye,bye Ataturk secularism and democracy then.

That's my fear.Let's hope you are wrong. To your previous post, there is no way generals misread the popular support, AKP has been dominant party for 13+ years and won the last elections with a record %53.

Doesn't look like this coup is going to succeed, Erdogan is reported to be landing at Ataturk airport.

coup is over already for the last 2 hours. Now AKP supporter radicals on streets and trying to attack soldiers, liberals, foreigners, pretty much whoever they see that don't obey Erdogan.

Well that's that then. It's very strange how quickly this has unfolded and just how quickly it's been suppressed. Something doesn't feel true.

This looks to have been either the worlds shittest coup or has been orchestrated by Erdogan to galvanize national support in the wake of up coming elections on changes to the constitution.

That seems like the most likely explanation to me. This is an utter disaster. I'm so sorry for anyone over there who doesn't support Erdogan.

Maybe coup is not over yet.

The army took over the CNN Turk and Channel D buildings (Dogan Media Center) owned by Aydin Dogan who has been the muppet and right hand of AKP in the media. I know name is CNN but CNN Turk has been acting like official voice of AKP for several years on TV's and newspapers.

Still i hate to see tv channels being shut down, right now they are officially cut off the air by soldiers.

This looks mighty staged at times. Even the correspondence on CNN came out and said the people on the street are falling in sync as though it's choreographed.

Reports that soldiers are now surrendering.

Ugh, depressing news to wake up to.

The final nail in the coffin of Ataturk's Turkey.

Shameful of those in the military who didn't join in the coup to save their country.

That's the people's job, not the military's. They still have democratic elections there, even if the guy they elected is a massive c*nt.

Fetulllah Gulen is mentioned by Turkish Prime Minister as a terrorist organization leader, does that mean that the US needs to allow Turkey to take drone strikes in Pennsylvania as it is harboring a terrorist leader....

food for thought.

This will give Erdogan all the excuses he needs to increase his power there - he'll call for Constitutional changes which give him that power now.

I can't see how Erdogan is the villain here, I suppose we too have arrived at a stage where democracy isn't important unless it suits us.
If they didn't have much chance of joining the EU under Erdogan then they will have no chance in a military state.
