Was a doddle in the end.

Mad that you can only drop 6 points over almost a third of a season and still find yourself in likely third place. (It’s almost a guarantee that Everton and Manchester United will not manage a shot on target between them this afternoon)

International break coming at the right time for us. Keita will undoubtedly start to figure soon, Hendo coming back from fitness, competition for places in midfield which I think will be a good thing.

Andy Robbo, take a bow, great second half from him. Great second half overall actually, much better than that turdfest in the first half. Klopp has clearly got into them at half time because we were sharper and quicker, much better stuff.

Anyway yeah, top of the fucking league again eh? Just need our red chums along the M62 to do us a favour later on. I can't see the blueshite helping us out at all - if anything they will be motivated to lose now that we're up top again. But even though we're nowhere near the level we were last season, look where we are. That we have more gears to go through is hugely encouraging. Up the fucking top of the league reds!

Glad we have picked up so many points despite playing fairly turgidly. Team is leaning on the brilliance at CB too much and I don't think the 4-2-3-1 gets the best out of anyone really. That said, you don't get points for style.

Salah looking better but whatever Firmino's role was today, never again. He was effectively a midfielder and it's hugely restricts the best parts of his game. Shaqiri's probably cemented himself a starting spot now. I'd have liked to have seen Keita come on earlier, he needs the minutes more than Milner.

Once Clyne is ready, I'd drop Trent for a bit. He's young, everyone has poor patches, but he's been so poor on the ball this season.

Nice and comfortable second half. Robbo excellent again. And good signs that Salah's getting his groove back with the ball.

Even by our own lofty standards our corners today were special.

subdued but some great touches for the goals.

Mawson and the rest of the yard dogs can fuck off to the second division pronto.

How that tackle on Mo was not a red only the ref knows. Further proof that refs are under orders not to ‘ruin the spectacle’ by sending players off.
Oh and the tele can fuck off with the “razor thin decision” narrative. And when that was proved bollocks they then started with “the ball was moving”
Plucky underdogs narratives really grate when it should be shite yard dogs

Happy days

Improved second half, I’d imagine they got a bit of a rocket.

12 games, 9 wins, 3 draws, 23 goals, 5 conceded, 6 clean sheets, 30 points

Record start in the Prem and a best defensive record start in 40 odd years among those stats.

We're not playing particularly well - we're not finding the quick passing to feet we were last season. Still, 3 points again and a comfortable win in the end, isn't it?

Liking what the little square man is offering us right now. Lovely guided volley and constantly trying to find a decent ball.

Kind of nice to be picking over the performances and being where we are in the table.

Not good again. When Shaq is on the pitch he should be on every corner and free kick. TAA and Mo were poor on set pieces. I dont know how Bobby and Mane played the full game. Keita and Sturridge should have at least got the last 10 or 15. I think Klopp recognises how were miles off and how delicate our psyche is at the moment and went safe with the Milner and Hendo subs to close the game out.

XS looking essential at the mo. Maybe when Naby's fit again we'll see them both in some kind of rotation. Options in midfield coming back at just the right time. I feel like we'll look back and see the last few games as our "blip" and everything ramps up after the break.

Anyway, that was an essential 3 points and any of Arse, Chelsea and City dropping points from here would be a great bonus.

Was out this morning, game was 2-0 when I got in - god that BT commentator just does not like us does he? Didn't have a nice word to say in what I heard and was trying to find any excuse why our first shouldn't have stood including questioning was the ball rolling at the free kick.

Two good goals, great to see the speed and awareness on the first and a cracking finish from Shaqiri. Now to support the Red mancs later.

That pass by Keita think it was his first involvement in the game was lovely and hopefully there will be much more of that after the break.
f
Yes a superb pass, I do hope that he gets some meaningful game time after the break. The performance as a whole was functional and did the job. Shaqiri is a top player, lovely goal and generally a pleasure to watch. Interestingly Henderson slotted into Fabinho's area leaving Fab to work out where to go. I like the look of Fabinho and he looks to be finding his feet. The applause at his substitution should give him some confidence that he's appreciated.

I thought the half-time thread on here was a bit embarrassing to be honest. We did ok in the first half, Fulham played quite well too and then in the second it was entirely comfortable.

As Klopp said, “If someone goes there and expects an easy game then please stay at home". Good job some of the posters on here weren't at Anfield today, we aren't entitled to win every game 4-0.

Well done reds on another win and clean sheet!

Much better 2nd half. Great finish by Shaqiri for his goal.

I watched Fabinho, Mane and Firmino in the 2nd half closely and none of the three did anything wrong. Firmino over-ran the ball once and had some great touches. Mane didn't put a foot wrong and had one good shot. Fabinho had a good 2nd half.

It was quite comfortable for us in the end and that is because we have better players.

MOTM was a close call but I'd give it to Gomez. He was majestic on the ball and his pace is a great asset.

Three questions. First, how did Callum Chambers stay on the park? Second, how has someone so incompetent as Tierney got to this level? Third, why am I now obliged to watch matches with the sound muted as a result of piss poor commentary and equally piss poor “analysis”? By analysis, I mean the bogus creation of controversy.

I wish one of the ex-pros, who quite evidently despise Humphreys as much as the rest of us, would plant one on him.

A comfortable win in the end, but not a great performance, not helped by the early kick off time.

Thought the ref was shit. Nothing major, but just poor. Salah again being pulled continuously, yet if he places his hand on Mawson its a free kick. Mitrovic has a handful of Gomez shirt and doesn't let go until he is similarly grabbed and Gomez gets booked.

When is a ref going to give us free kicks when are players are pulled back?

Great result. Really good second half, mostly good first half bar some lax defensive errors. Team did well to deal with the occasion, and the quiet atmosphere.

Only frustration is that it appears, as with Fabinho, that Klopp is only going to utilise the squad when it's forced on him. The conservatistm with the bench doesn't look like it's ever going to go away. Two minutes for Keita, entirely pointless exercise. Bringing Milner on was baffling and was also weird taking off our freshest attacking player in Shaqiri.

In the short term, it's obviously more than ok. We're performing brilliantly in the league. It's just that in the long term it'll leave us with players going in cold and unfamiliar when they're required (see Fabinho at Arsenal, see Origi at Red Star). It's a vicious circle because Klopp isn't going to start to trust players like Fabinho or Keita in competitive based on two minute performances. But we aren't going to put on cricket scores if we're leaving our tired players out there, conserving energy.

We were spoiled by the almost over-preparation by Rafa, so it's hard not to see Klopp's generally great use of the squad as an obvious marginal gain to come, if he improves with considering the physical aspects of who he's bringing on and off (eg if you start Lallana and Sturridge, you're restricting yourself because they're both not performing physically for more than 50-60 minutes)
