Think we’re talking about different players here. I haven’t seen anyone cause us as much damage as he did earlier season in Naples. He’s immense.
His stats back it up mate. The state of his passing. He's a strong runner that has to pick a team that suits his strengths.

Osimhen is not a penalty box striker, neither is Halaand to be honest but they are similar in that they rely on their pace and size to get in great goal scoring positions  and don't really excel at hold-up play like some one like Benzema.

Halland is only a penalty box striker, he scores nearly all of his goals within the penalty box, he only actually exerts himself within the opposition box.  Not a slight on the player, it's an absolute talent, but saying he isn't a penalty box striker is nuts.

Almost all good strikers score nearly all their goals in the penalty box.

But my point is if you are holding a defensive line 30-40 yard out against him, Halaand is still a threat because he can use his speed and size to break that defensive line. If he can get 1v1 vs a central defender he is hard to stop.

He isn't an Inzhagi type player. He is a threat no matter where the ball is located on the pitch. One throughball or long ball is all it takes to set him free. Ofcourse he is really good at tapping in goals too.

No clear definition of what a "penalty box striker" is, which I suspect is causing the disagreement. In my view it is a player who is not much use outside of getting goals (primarily in the box, but not necessarily). The box part refers to the fact that they are only contributing at the very sharp end of an attack. I.e. someone who isn't good at pressing, or build up play, but very effective in the final end of the pitch. Other opinions are available.

Nah that's exactly it. Van Nistelrooy is the absolute prime example.

Owen?!
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

As soon as a player has the physical and technical attributes to be able to stretch the play with runs in behind or hold up the player and be a focal point he moves into a different category to the 'goal hanger does nothing but score goals' type striker for me. Which means Owen at his pace wasn't 'just a penalty box striker' or whatever the term we're using for it is.

The “run in behind” striker and the goal hanger are two completely different positions. Owen and Lineker are two different type of players I wouldn’t put them in the same category.

Not a goal hanger as such but he didn’t do much link up play etc.

I’m not saying he was crap he was class for us but I guess football has changed tactically since those days.

Yeah it was a bad comment by myself I was meaning link up play which forwards now do much more now.

He was obviously quality until injuries ruined his hamstrings then he was done.

He went to Utd as well so I don’t have much time for him either 😳

Remember the "fox in the box" Francis Jeffers?. A penalty box striker who didn't score goals.

The transfer market is going to go from crazy to pure bonkers this summer. Watch average players go for 100m....Grealish syndrome....the likes of Mount will probably be "worth" 80m now once Newcastle, Chelsea, City n Utd go ape shyte with their bottomless pits of blood money.

Mohamed Dahoud will leave Borussia Dortmund as free agent in June.

BVB director Kehl: “I had open and very honest conversation with Dahoud last week. I told him that we would not be extending his contract in the summer”, he told BILD.

There’s no release clause or exit clause included in the new contract of Moises Caicedo with Brighton. 🔵🇪🇨 #BHAFC

New deal was promised to Caicedo to give him bigger salary as Brighton turned down important bids in January.

Bit of a turn around considering he was reportedly keen to leave in January.

Yeah that is a surprise. Can only think the pay increase is sizeable then. Arsenals interest in him was obvious and I am sure other major clubs would be looking at him too so fair play to the lad if he wants to stay at Brighton for while.

Signing a new contract doesn’t mean he’s staying. Just that he’s on better money until he leaves, and that Brighton can ask top money for him. Although they are having a great season and could still win the cup(I’d love that), and get in Europe, even CL they have a shot at.

In other news, nice of Neville and keane to say that Declan Rice is shit and not worth more than 60m. Doing Arsenals bidding for us, if they can take 30m off his valuation it’ll be great .
