I'm looking at spending a lot on music headphones. Like 100 quid plus.

I think we live in a world where we shouldn't have to deal with cables. But I want to know if I spent a lot of money on Bluetooth headphones am I still paying for the novelty of not having to use a cable rather than getting good sound quality. So would a 100 pound pair of cable headphones be much better than a 100 quid pair of bluetooth ones sound quality wise.

I'd love any recomendations, I currently us Klipsch Image S4 and I really like in ear headphones but never found a pair that was fully comfy. I'm thinking of going over the head regular style.

let us know :)

I just wonder if there really is too much to spend on a pair of headphones. Like over 150 really?

I seen these recommended for PS4 as they have an inline mic and compatible with the jack on the controller, i also need some for PC and then my ipod use so i figured i'd get a pair that seemed to do the job across all of them things and they seem well made and comfy cos i'm gonna be using them most of my time.

Lads, I need a bit of tech help, but not sure if this is the place for it. I bought a new Samsung TV a couple of months back - 40" HD etc., a normal new TV. I'm in Bangkok, but there don't seem to be any different parts or anything with it being in Asia - everything looks the same as you'd expect in the US.

When I plug headphones in the headphone jack at the back, the sound comes through the headphones fine, but it also still comes out of the TV. I know you're probably thinking "he wants to watch porn in private" hahaha, but that's not it. I actually want to get some wireless headphones to use while I am on an exercise machine across the room. The picture is big enough for that, but I'd have to crank the volume a bit and I don't want to disturb the neighbors any more than I have to (I live in an apartment). So I want the sound to come through the headphones (which I haven't bought yet), but not from the TV. I've tried with 3 different sets of regular headphones, and the situation is the same. Any ideas?

Do you have an option on your TV (in settings) to set to  output sound through your headphones only. Should be something along those lines I'd imagine

Very happy with the MDR-1R's, really comfortable and great build quality. Look great too, not tacky like beats

Lots of bass, work on PS4 too and so does the inline mic, which really picks up what your saying really well.

.....When I plug headphones in the headphone jack at the back, the sound comes through the headphones fine, but it also still comes out of the TV.....

As already suggested, try switching off the sound in "settings" on your TV menu, but if you can't manage to do this, then a foolproof way would be to connect a hi-fi amp. to your TV. A used Arcam or Cambridge Audio should be available quite cheaply. This will definitely cut the sound when headphones are connected (to the amp.)

Plus, if you add a pair of speakers you can dispense with the TV sound completely.
Samsung TVs are excellent in many respects but, like all flat panel TVs, the sound is truly awful. (Because there is no room for decent-sized speakers,) and make no mistake, when it comes to speakers, size is everything!

I'm not talking about volume which I realize you are not short of, but quality

Good luck....

I have a Nokia 500 with Bluetooth Specification 2.1 + EDR (Enhanced Data Rate), MTP (Multimedia Transfer Protocol).

Anyways, I have seen 2 Philips bluetooth stereo headsets for phone and music applications. One of them is bluetooth 3.0 and the other is a bluetooth 4.0. I would like to know if one/both of them are compatible with my phone.

Any help appreciated.

After a long history of cheapish headphones, I recently went for Sennheiser Momentum on-ears (http://en-uk.sennheiser.com/momentum-on-ear) in blue. They are epic, and while not quite as punchy and bassy, the reproduction on them is phenomenal. They make me hear sounds that I never even knew were there. Well recommended.

Ello all,

Looking at some new cans - Sony MDR-10RC or Sony MDR-1R.  The 10RC are £150 and were released tail end of last year.  The 1R's were released tail end of 2012, and I can get for same price on EvilBay (new).  Just wondering if anyone has either of these sets, or anyone can offer an opinion on them at all?

My listening is mainly commute based - podcasts, music from House to Indie and stuff in-between.  As well as the odd film/Iplayer/4OD episode too.

TIA.

Got a pair of House of Marley Exodus' from the Bay.

They're actually fucking really good for the price. I've got a pair of Bose QC15's here and whilst they're not as good, they're pretty fucking good I must say so.

The noise cancellation is a weird sensation and not felt great after using them.

I know what you mean - it's almost like someone has taken your hearing away and replaced it with someone else's, combined with the feeling your ear canals are full of oil. Persevere with them, I'm sure you'll get used to it - I'm so fussy about my ears and hearing because of various issues with them over the years and I'm very comfortable with them now.

Exactly how I feel and good to hear that

I have the larger (over ear) version of these and they are a very nice pair of headphones, the closed back design means they are well suited to wearing in the office or out and about (I tend to prefer my shures then though) where the larger open back headphones I have at home would get me lynched due to sound leakage.

None of the three that you list are bad headphones in the price range and don't go down the awful beats route of fucking about with the sound, so one major consideration should be how comfortable you find them and I would recommend trying to find somewhere that stocks some or all of them so you can try them on for yourself as it doesn't matter how good a pair might sound if they just aren't comfortable for you to wear them after all.
