Headphones
« on: April 27, 2010, 11:05:00 am »
Does anyone have any advice, I'm looking for a pair of quality headphones (not ear plugs), the cover your ear type.

To use for music and pc, budget around £100.

Or does anyone have access to this?:

Thanks

do they need to be wireless or are you not bothered?

I've got some Sennheiser RS 120's which do the job, good quality for my needs, but they don't keep external sound out and they don't really keep the noise in either so if that's a need then they'd be no good. I bought them so I could play GTA at night time with the volume up without waking everyone in the house up!

GRADO LABS' SR60 or SR90. Job done.

Amazing sound quality, comfortable (pads better than rings imho), last you for fucking YEARS, great bass response. Should be within your budget too.

I have some Grado SR60's too and they're bloody awesome for the price. You can pick them up for about £90 (I got mine second hand off ebay for £55 with its original box, etc). I got some replacement ear pads for them recently off ebay and oddly enough these 3rd party ones feel much more comfy than the originals.

Bought mine in 1998 - still going strong. dnnSSSdnnSSSdnnSSSdnnSSS!

I remember a train conductor asking me to take them off once, after he'd checked my ticket, and I thought he was gonna have a pop at me for the sound leakage - in fact, he wanted a go of them cos he'd heard they were good - fucker stayed for half an hour raving about how good they were whilst my batteries were dying on the cd player ;)

I've got a set of these;

and they're incredible for hip-hop/rock and the like. Amazing bass, and a really deep rich sound. My dad has a pair of those 90 quid Grado's, and they're a better all round headphone but feel a bit flimsy to me.

Anybody recommend any decent in ear headphones. I'm looking to buy 2 pairs one under £20 and another pair up to £100. I've had several pairs of Sennheisers which I either lose or break. Are Skull Candy any good and what about Bose do they live up to the hype?

For that price I'd recommend some quality professional DJ headphones that capture the full range of frequences:

Sony MDR-V700. I got them for Christmas and they're fan-fucking-tastic, very nice looking, very solid/durable, flexible and are used by many of the top DJs. High volume level and good sound isolation.

I've had a couple of different types of Sony headphones at various price ranges, including this one and they are all excellent, particularly if one doesn't have the funds to buy a set of Bose.
