 :lmao

They're not talking about upgrading one iPhone from 2G to 3G. They're talking about upgrading as in getting an iPhone 3G to replace your existing 2G one.

no, if its the 2g one it will connect to gprs or edge to use the internet, it will be slower than 3g of course but not a whole lot more

i don't think you can actually buy the 2g iphone in shops anymore?

wap was first, then gprs followed, it's not bad but if you aren't on a download package (which you don't seem to be) then avoid using it as much as possible and use the wifi connection where you can

I don't think you're going to get one that just does yahoo, there simply isn't the number of users to justify the time it would take. I did found Palringo Instant Messenger which looks ok from the reviews. Haven't bothered installing it though.

I could use a decent blogger app. Something I don't have to sign up to another site to use.

yeah. It seems to me that there is plenty of people who'd use the app, but there doesn't seem to be one that doesnt require signing up to another websites service.

Could you explain what such an app would need to do? Like, just a field for text and a publish button or a bit more?

It's taken me two bloody days to get the iPhone SDK to run on my old PPC Mac. Sodding Apple. If it works just fine on PPC after lightly editing a few config files, why does it refuse to install by default?

Well yeah, just a field for the title, text box for the content and a submit button would be the basics. After that I guess you could add in the ability to post photos too maybe. No Idea if that's possible though. I'm not 100% sure how it would work, but I can post to my blog from my flickr account so I assume it would work in a similar way.

The blogger API is just a web service - fairly easy to interact with, as with most web services.

Yup. Just had a look at that. Should actually be very easy to do (if you know the platform). I could write it in Python in two hours at most. No real idea about text processing in Cocoa, though. I'll have a look into it.

Right, I've had a proper look at this Blogger business, and I've written a prototype app in Python and it works just fine via the Blogger/Google API.

I think I'll have a crack at this later in the week when I have more time--seems like a good app to cut my teeth on.

There's Pocketpedia that uses Amazon to search Books, CD's, DVD's and Games. It downloads the info and then stores it so you can check it later without having to be online.

I've found it useful for making wishlists, which I check when I'm next in Music/Video/Book shops. It's a bit anal making lists like that, but it's saved me from wandering around shops, wracking my brain trying to remember what it was that I wanted.

Lol. That's a bit tricky, actually, because there's no API to get the info from IBDb easily. Amazon, Blogger etc. are a piece of piss because you just have to call a URL and parse some XML (Google even provides proper client libraries in lots of languages, including Objective-C for the iPhone), but with IMDb, you'd either have to screen-scrape the website (which is tricky) or distribute the app with the hundreds of MBs of data here: http://www.imdb.com/interfaces#plain

Judging by the size of the movies.list file I downloaded, you'd be looking at about 1GB of data.

yo when ure SShing  your apps into your iphone through winscp and u get to the step where they ask  change the name to mobile installation bak .....then the guide said  paste the patched mobile installation in to the same folder , so ure left with tthe 2 files  the one you renamed and the bak?

cause i followed all these directions ,,,, and my iphone is  unlocked jailbroken ,and when they said take one app off itunes i did this and ended up fucking my iphone up  nthe screen went blank and at the bottom usually where it shows call safari and such  wehnt grey , so i had to restore and unlock it all again

was i  doing something wrong in the SSh ,  is there guides out there that are more detailed than the one i used?
