Ring them back and say you want your account crediting for 11 days in August.
I intend to.
The curse of the shitty Thomson build quality strikes again I see.

Wouldn't stand for th e 11th, phone em up and kick off, all they need to do is swap the box which will take them all of five mins, they could post you one quicker ::).
I won't. Have to ring them again in the morning.

Came to this thread a bit late, but from what I've read, the real relationship trouble is not between you and your girl, but between you and a small box of Tampax. You obviously need something more substantial in your life like a huge Costco sized box of jam rags, seeing as you're such a massive fucking quim

When I phoned them up a few weeks ago they replaced my box within 2 days. I certainly wouldn't accept waiting till then.
I might have single handedly ruined Warrington's picture houses, but personally thought my pocket money was better spent at Anfield.

There appears to be an engineer shortage. Rang them this morning and the earliest they can get someone here is Wednesday. I told them that was still unacceptable but they could not do it any quicker. The lady on the phone was nice and she has made a note that should an engineer finish a job earlier then he should call to me and she also put a credit on my account for half the month.

I suppose that's fair enough although not ideal.

To be fair, there is no excuse for having a shortage of engineers, given they aren't actually enginners but box swappers, something a trained monkey could do - it's not like they have to be recruited from a highly skilled background and trained for years.

That wouldn't guarantee a pace box though, mite end up with one of them useless Thomsons. Besides isn't that for new customers only, still in a 12 month contract from adding multi room.

Just read this information:

The next channels to launch have been announced as Disney Channel HD Sky Real Lives HD, Sky Movies Family HD, Sky Movies Drama HD, Sky Movies Action& Thriller HD, Sky Movies Sci-Fi & Horror HD, Sky Movies Comedy HD and Sky Movies Modern Greats HD. Further channels will be announced before the end of 2008, including MTV HD UK.

It should bring the line up to 30 channels by end of 2008.

1.  Channel 4 HD
2.  BBC HD
3.  Sky One HD
4.  FX HD
5.  Sky Arts HD
6.  Luxe.tv HD
7.  Sky Premiere HD
8.  Screen 1 HD
9.  Sky Screen 2 HD
10.  Sky Screen 2 HD
11.  Sky Sports HD1
12.  Sky Sports HD2
13.  Eurosport HD
14.  Sky Sports HD3
15.  Rush HD
16.  Discovery HD
17.  National Geographic Channel HD
18.  The History Channel HD
19.  Sky Box Office HD1
20.  Sky Box Office HD2
21.  Disney Channel HD
22.  Sky Real Lives HD
23.  Sky Movies Family HD
24.  Sky Movies Drama HD
25.  Sky Movies Action & Thriller HD
26.  Sky Movies Sci-Fi & Horror HD
27.  Sky Movies Comedy HD
28.  Sky Movies Modern Greats HD
29.  MTV UK HD

I wonder what the 30th will be?  Setanta HD maybe?  Would be nice to get some more mainstream veiwing.  I would like BBC to do a BBC1 HD or something, because a lot of the stuff on there is good, but hardly ever gets shown on BBC HD.  Even if it is only upscaled it is a start.

I managed to find a 6 month old box on ebay for £135, self installed and working a treat.  HD is bloody excellent, spent my lunch hour watching the BBC HD preview thingy - stunning

:D I have a feeling it maybe V3 for some reason. Bought if off ebay early last year and have had no major issues with it. It does occasionally switch itself off and I've had a couple of failed recordings but other than that it seems to be working ok. Fingers crossed. This thread will be probably be the death of it now !  ;D

Should've kept my mouth shut ! Sky HD box seems to be on its way out. Lots of failed recordings and getting the dreaded no satellite signal is being received banner. Have done some reading on line and it seems to be the PSU that's going which seems to be a common problem. I'm not even gonna attempt to fix this myself so I was wondering whether anyone could suggest anywhere in the Liverpool area to take it to get repaired. Don't think I can ring Sky and threaten to cancel in the hope of getting another box as I bought the box off ebay 16 months ago so they'll probably tell me to do one !

Phone Sky up.

I did it within 2 weeks of getting my Sky HD box off E-Bay and they replaced it for free, and another 3 times since. Just threaten to cancel and they'll be around in a flash.

Where do I find a list of Liverpool games which are on Sky Sports? About 2/3 of the reason I got Sky was so I could stop watching the games on shitty streams. I don't think the Wigan game's on this weekend, although it may be on that multi-thing on Sky Sports Xtra, and the Man City game wasn't on last weekend. I'm not sure if its worth paying £10 or so a month just for pretty much 2 Liverpool games per payment. Is Setanta worth it?

Well if Sky HD at £10 a month, when all the games we play in the Champs League and League/FA Cup and Carling up being broadcast on Sky will be in HD, then Setanta where we will play probs about 4 more games this season, for £10pm surley isn't.

Well the curse of he bulging capacitors finely struck my Thomson HD box, started getting the dreaded no signal on loads of channels etc a few weeks ago, never bothered about it because they would work again after the box had been on a while but it did start getting worse.....

Finally got round to ordering the upgraded cap kit that Satcure supply..........should have done it a fucking year ago , the box is working better than when it was new, got one of our Tv engineers to fit it in work.

Btw he was really impressed at the quality of components in the uprade kit said they were top notch ( he's a Loewe engineer so used to top of the range stuff ) and equally as horrified at the state the caps were in inside the Thomson...anyhow why i'm posting this is to tell anyone that has a Thomson box to get it done whether your having problems or not you'll not regret it.

Loads of things i thought were just slight glitches in the software or just normal have been cured especially the ff pause and rew it's now far more usable and responsive than ever...

and spend the extra 50p on the plastic screw pack you need it >:(

You only get a free box if you have Sky Plus and want to upgrade to SkyHD.
If you are a current HD subscriber you don't qualify.

It costs an additional £10 per month (on top of your current sub.)
A free box and free installation is a good deal and the HD channels are good value.

Also, movies on SkyHD are transmitted in Dolby Digital (if you have an optical connection - not HDMI.)   It's worth it for the improved sound and picture quality.

free box on the condition that you sign up for the SkyHD sub(£10 PM we worth it if you love sports/films/dramas/docs etc and own a 42 inch+ TV)

its £50 without the sub you get BBCHD and C4HD

Yeah, £10 for the HD subscription but isn't there a multiroom condition on this too? i.e. keep your original box and subscribe to multiroom for a minimum of 12 months...? Therefore, paying an extra £20 per month?

My current contract (Sky+) with Sky has just expired. Phoned up to see what they could do for me. I've just got an upgrade to a Sky+ HD box for free (self install, very easy!) and there's no £10 per month extra added on top. They are also throwing in a Sky Hub for £16.95 one off fee, but to compensate for the fee, they are reducing my unlimited broadband to £1.99 for 12 months. Not bad and was pretty happy with that.

Any ideas what I do with the old box? I guess I can use it in another room, but I've transferred the old card to the new HD box, so will I need to get another card? Thanks for any help.

Nah not got it yet, my Dad's had it and looks good. From what I can see it mirrors the iPad app which is really good and personally I prefer using that to find stuff than the actual EPG.

Got it yesterday but now the buttons on the remote make no sense. Pressing the TV Guide button takes you to a menu rather than straight to the TV Guide. It's a fucking outrage! ;D

In all seriousness though, it looks good although not a huge improvement in functionality.
