Absolutely buzzing he's signed for us. What a great signing and at an unbelievable price...one of the best CM's in the PL this season, world cup winner....£35m!  :wellin

Welcome to the best club in the world Alexis  :scarf
We’ll still finish in top four - and they won’t. You can quote me on this in May.

Great signing.  Just read what Klopp and Lallana have said about him.  Proper game intelligence, versatile, technical ability, hard working and a team player.  I think Klopp and the team are going to enjoy having him in the squad.

Roger Hunt is the only player to play on the winning side in a World Cup final whilst on Liverpool’s books. All our other World Cup winners either didn’t play in the final or weren’t on our books yet. We’ve also had four others play in finals a lose whilst on our books.
Torres came on as a sub for Spain in 2010 final. Three players have lost a WC final when on our books. Can anyone name them?

Working backwards - Konate, Kuyt and Hamann?

Edit: Lovren in 2018 too actually

You’re right it’s four. My mind had failed to update that stat to include Konate, it was a question I set for a Zoom football quiz during lockdown.

I think he's a cracking player, and delighted that we bought him, but especially at his price. He brings a bit of technical finesse and is not a slouch defensively. I'd love to see us add a couple of other midfielders too because I do think we desperately need more energy and power in the midfield, which the likes of Thuram and Kone seem to have.
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

Honestly don't know why people fight about unrealized add-ons, the value of the deal is 35m, if it does end up touching 55m, that 55m would end up still being bargain for Liverpool and those 20m would be more valuable to Liverpool than Brighton, since Big Mac would have achieved everything he intended to achieve.

I think he will be amazing for Liverpool, Brighton fans seem to think he is abit underated by others so I think we have our New Hendo  with goals added ( he can play anywhere across the mid 6/8/10 great player to have.

He is a great all rounder but those stats say more about the form and availability of our midfield last season than they do about him.

Fantastic piece of business and I hope we can perhaps bring in one more CM. If those 2 played most of the games, then the physical toll on the likes of Thiago, Fabinho and Hendo would likely be considerably less and we should hopefully see them return to better form. We do have quite a few CMs still, but I think Jurgen will probably feel that he can still get something out of Fabinho, Hendo and Thiago for the time being

This is key for Jurgen's Liverpool 2.0. I agree those 3 still have a role to play, and Fabinho might yet return to his previously high levels. He certainly looked better with Trent roaming around midfield, tackling and picking up second balls, so Mac Allister could boost his confidence even more.

Think this signing also helps our back 3/4. An industrious, combative player in midfield with plenty of energy will be vital in transition - where teams have carved us open too easily this season, and made our high line look more fragile.

He seems to be a player that's a 'multiplier' - solving a problem, whilst making those around him better and being able to put out fires when we're under pressure,  or provide a spark when we need a goal.

Really buzzing about this one, and I think he'll also be a great influence on players like Jones, Bajetic and Elliot.
I've got OCD, but I prefer to call it CDO so it's in alphabetical order.

Looking forward to seeing what he can do in a Red shirt.

On the fee....although it sounds cheap, didn't he sign a new contract as would have been out of contract this summer, so effectively he held all the cards. Therefore no real surprise he insisted on the release clause.

At least Brighton got £35m instead of nada ?

His ancestors once left Ireland for a new life in Argentina.

Decades later, the ginger lad known as MacAllister made his way back to these shores and will be living just across the Irish sea. How serendipitous.

That isn't how it works though.

You take the basic fee and then automatically bloat the figure with any possible add-ons no matter how unlikely they are. Chuck in a signing-on fee, then include exorbitant agent fees. Add wages then double it for tax liabilities. Then include any fees that his Dad, Aunty Marg and anyone who once passed him a can of coke in MacDonalds want.

Turn it into hundreds of millions multiply by three and then declare the World is going mad.

Sorry wrong thread I thought it was one of the threads when we missed out on a player.  ;D ;D
