Since Gulasci's thread is locked, this was from the Athletic article on him. Sounds very impressive:

Quote
During the last Bundesliga campaign, which Leipzig ended in third position, Gulacsi’s 1.06 goals conceded per 90 minutes were second only to Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer. His save percentage of 72.6 per cent bettered Liverpool’s Alisson (72.2) in their respective top flights, as well as Burnley’s Nick Pope (72.1). Manchester City’s Ederson, on 72.8 per cent, was the Premier League’s finest by this metric. Only three goalkeepers in the Champions League have recorded more clean sheets in the tournament this season than Gulacsi, while he has the fourth-best record for saves made from shots inside the box in the competition during this campaign.

The 30-year-old has been a late bloomer, but his form over the past couple of years has been such that it is little wonder his former Liverpool goalkeeping coach Xavi Valero believes he is now capable of playing for any of the continent’s finest sides.

Valero tells The Athletic: “What really sets him apart is his game intelligence — his positional play, his understanding of the game. All that makes him very consistent. He makes very few mistakes and he is reliable and calming for a defence. It’s hard to imagine him doing the wrong thing. He has a profile like an Edwin van der Sar, Petr Cech, Samir Handanovic; reliable and trustworthy, on and off the pitch. His distribution now is one of the best in Europe. He plays out from the back or he can go long. He can do anything you ask him to do as a coach.”

If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Nice article about Michael Ngoo. Hands up who knew he'd been playing in Albania the past three seasons? I thought in his early days he might have one day made a decent squad player, like a quicker Peter Crouch, but he never managed to make the step. Didn't realise either that it was a tackle from our Virgil that almost ended his career. Good on him for taking a very unorthodox route to a football career.

Connor Randall talks about the last of his 8 appearances for the club against Wolves left him ashamed after he was subbed at half time.

The shame stayed with him, but he recovered after he went to Hearts.

Ex Liverpool youth goalkeeper Péter Gulácsi played solidly today, as his club knocked out a mid table EPL club in the Champions League tonight. Good goalkeeping display, solid and confidence inspiring, unlike David, his counterpart in the other goal.

Simon Mignolet vs Pepe Reina in Lazio v Brugge.

Both pushed soft shots back out into the centre of the box for a tap-in.

Just today, another blast from the past: Julian Dicks!

Just learnt he was the 1st team coach of WBA. Now sacked, unfortunately, along with Bilic.

I guess the inability to beat Man City cost them ;)

All 53 Liverpool players sold by Jurgen Klopp and what happened next

https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-players-sold-jurgen-klopp-21128269

Interesting how some of these players now appear to be free agents without a club;

Jerome Sinclair
Martin Skrtel
Jordon Ibe
*Andre Wisdom (out of contract?)
Mamadou Sakho
Daniel Sturridge
Nathaniel Clyne

Just noted the following regarding Jerome Sinclair (from Wiki);

After a year without a club, Sinclair rejoined Oxford United on a trial basis during the 2022-23 pre-season, playing his first match in over a year in a friendly against Banbury United.[44]

*I think this was on 9th July?

I wasn't around in 66 so a quick question to the older experts here: is that really the Anfield Iron next to Cruyff in the top pic:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AFC_Ajax_5–1_Liverpool_F.C._(1966)

not sure why the link doesn't work but just copying will do.

Yes mate, though I think Cruyff is in the background (between Tommy Smith and the referee - his hair colour and body frame looks more like Cruyff than the Ajax player on the ball). The player with the ball at his feet looks more like winger Sjaak Swart, or maybe Wim Suurbier. (I think - someone older will know for sure! ;D)
