They are screwed when ferguson leaves that's all that matters.

It would seem that way but who's to say Mourinho won't take the job?

I´m quite confident that he will.. Seems to be pining for it, the asshole. I´ve always kinda felt that Moyes would be a good bet too

Well he's done well at every other club he's ever managed so far and he's won the PL before so I would say he has an above average chance of being a success if he did go to OT.

Mourinho seems to fancy the job, but there's been more than a few articles saying he won't get it because of his attitude.  I can see that, because the mancs would never employ a manager who belittles refs, refuses to speak to journalists, plays safety-first stuff in big games, and generally acts the c*nt.  No way would they stand for that.  Oh, hang on.....

I think the vacuum created by Ferguson leaving will be very different than anything he's taken on so far.

I doubt that would affect him much at all.. It´s Mourinho we´re talking about here. The ego on that man, I´m worried our planet will implode the day he dies. Only problem with him is that he usually don´t stay long in one place.

Anyone else think if they keep this pace up all season they will burn themselves out? or will they just go on thrashing teams and scoring from all angles?

Ferg leaving probably wont do shit to be honest. People say that as it's all they have left...they'll just appoint someone half decent and they'll just trundle on. Reality is its the teams around them that have to knock them...a few not so successful years and they'd be in the shit. Problem is like we saw the other day Chelsea are in transition (again), Arse suck donkey balls, City will probably bottle it (but perhaps not) and we're in transition again as well :/ there is no hope for a while yet.

FERGIE TELLS FANS: GO SUPPORT CHELSEA

From David McDonnell in Budapest 24/08/2005

United boss in airport bust-up

FURIOUS Mr. Ferguson told a group of Manchester United fans who confronted him over the Malcolm Glazer takeover: "If you don't like it, go and watch Chelsea".

Fergie became embroiled in an amazing row with the supporters just minutes after United touched down in Budapest for the second leg of tonight's Champions League qualifier with Debrecen.

The fans accused Fergie of "selling out" over Glazer's £790million takeover and demanded to know why the United boss had not been more vocal in opposing the buy-out.

According to the United fans website redissue.co.uk, a supporter confronted chief executive David Gill then turned his attention to Ferguson.

The fan said: "You've f***** us over too, you could've spoken out about it."

Sir Alex replied: "I've got close friends who've been working with me here for 15 years. They come first in all of this."

Fan: "So don't the fans come first?"

Fergie: "Well I suppose they do come somewhere."

Fan: "You what? That's well out of order."

Sir Alex: "If you don't like it, go and watch Chelsea."

Fan: "The fans have been screwed right over. It costs me over £20 a game as it is."

Sir Alex: "It costs more than that at Chelsea - go and watch them."

Ferguson also told the fans they should have taken their chance to buy the club back in 1991, when it floated on the Stock Market and became a plc.

The unseemly row in front of United officials was the worst possible preparation for Fergie ahead of the second leg of tonight's Champions League qualifier against Hungarian champions Debrecen.

From David McDonnell in Budapest 24/08/2005

I think the fans would have deserted him by now if they were going to.

I still find his stance on this quite shocking though, to be honest. Here is a (supposed) United legend and he's willing to publically back the Glazers. Maybe i'm being idealistic but that just astounds me, to be honest. If he has his "friends" at the club to think about, then why not just stay silent about the situation at the very least?

And then there's the fact that he can happily treat supporters that are fighting for what they perceive to be the future of their club in that way.

I mean, could you imagine Rafa acting like that? Or Kenny for that matter.

It's a two way street. He has never given a shiny shit about Manchester United fans - he's made that very clear time and again.

But that has led him not to be really liked by their fanbase either. He's made up because he's successful, raking it in and lauding it up. The fans are made up because their team is successful, raking it in and lauding it up. Between him and them there is a working relationship, but no real affection. No respect from him to them either.

How many songs do Manchester United sing about Ferguson? How much stock do they put in him?

Mr. Ferguson backs Glazer family's Man Utd regime

Mr. Ferguson has spoken out in support of Manchester United's owners and said he has no problem working for the Glazer family.
The Americans have been accused of running up huge debts, leading to fan protests and talk of a takeover.
"They've done the job well. I've never been refused when I've asked for money for a player," stated the United boss.
"What can I do other than carry on the way we're doing it and the way I'm allowed to - I've no complaints."
The Glazer family bought United in 2005 for £800m but the club's debt is estimated to be £700m.

Their ownership of United provoked much criticism and resulted in the setting up of breakaway fans' club FC United of Manchester and the Green and Gold protest movement.
The Red Knights consortium, a group of wealthy supporters, considered making a takeover bid but put those plans on hold in June.
However, Ferguson believed the Glazers have been unfairly criticised.
"The debt has come through by the club being bought out by an owner. You know full well that when a business is bought it's usually bought with debt," he added.
"Because it's a football club it seems to attract more negative reporting from the media and from the fan but Manchester United Football Club, when it went plc, it was always going to be bought. It was inevitable.
"So when a particular family like the Glazers have bought it, it's unfair they come in for criticism because anybody could have bought it."

Therein lies the difference between great managers who fight for their club, and great managers who fight for themselves.
We had one when our owners were raping and pillaging the club, and we have one who has given more of himself for this club than we could imagine.
I'm not disputing Ferguson's success, he will sadly but rightly go down as one of the greatest managers of all time when he retires, but there will be a mess to clean up for his predecessor.

I know who I'd want in my corner....
I got the Lucas thing wrong. Will be right on Henderson though. Play him RM, play him CM - Not good enough and never will be.
