So are people still watching this? I'm still really enjoying it. We're half way through now looking forward to seeing how it plays out.

Disagree. Looks fucking freezing, to be honest   :P

Spoiler

The one thing I like is that the show demonstrates that, for the cops, there's no easy short cuts to policing.  Gus (Colin Hanks's character) came across Malvo last week purely coincidentally. He hadn't done the police work, hadn't worked the case, and just got lucky.  As a result, Malvo went free.
Molly, on the other hand, is natural po-lice.  She works the evidence, makes logical deductions, and corrects minor mistakes (like letting Chief Saul Goodman interview Malvo) by getting evidence from the motel owner/employee.  She'll get her man in the end.
She's one of my favourite characters in recent tv.  The scene with Ida (I think - the late Chief's widow) in the maternity ward was just beautiful.

BBT is just awesome. His pretending to be a pastor was amazing. I mean, uff-ta! **shudders**

[close]

I did read on some US site that for the Emmy's, they're putting this in as a mini-series, rather than the big drama awards. So it won't be up against True Detective in any of the categories, even though it's an identical format.  (HBO just wants the prestige award for Best Drama).

What a fucking great episode.
Spoiler
Towards the end, one super scene was succeeding the other. Excellent stuff even though there were a couple of circumstances that happened too easy and helped to advance the script.

Loving this series so far. I don't generally persevere with American drama's or Cop shows, but this is quirkily good.

Much slower pace to last night's episode, but still brilliant. The interrogation scene with Bob Odenkirk and Martin Freeman was excellent. Thought Freeman, in particular, was phenomenal throughout the episode.

Nothing to do with Freeman, he is very good and I understand the character he plays, requires to talk like that but fuck me I wish he finished a single damn sentence for once! Does my head in.

Some interesting casting in this, they seem to have really bought into the idea of getting comedic actors to play serious roles - Odenkirk, Freeman and Glenn Howerton have all been good.

Don't know where they got Alison Tolman from but she's been incredible.

Completely agree. This series has got better and better with each episode. It's absolutely pitch perfect, in that it has the spirit and sensibility of something the Cohens might produce, without falling into some sort of lame parody. Loving it.

finally up to date with the show (ep 7) and thus the thread.  glad it's got such a positive reception.

it's a little gimmicky sometimes (although the gimmicks are usually pretty good*), and the weary philosopher badass is maybe a victim of poor timing so hot on the heels of rust cohle... but it's a real treat nonetheless.  i still think it owes a lot to BB in a good deal of its story, humour and character interactions... but that's no bad thing.

the cinematography in TV shows is really superb these days.  also, what a golden first half of 2014 we've had in terms of US TV shows: true detective, game of thrones, the americans, mad men, fargo all on top form.  and OitNB returns next week.

*ep 7 spoiler
Spoiler
the invisible massacre in the fargo headquarters was particularly brilliant.

Watched all 8 in the last 3 days and thoroughly enjoyed it. Its hilarious too in its own right, find myself laughing at it more than most comedies.

This show is just fantastic, I bloody love it. I’m surprised at the lack of activity in here. If anyone was put off because it’s a TV ''reworking'' of the movie don’t let that stop you watching it, its exceeded my expectations and you’re missing out.

the latest was a weird episode, but clearly setting up for a big final act.

Spoiler
that was one of the best time jumps i've ever seen.  the music (which is superb) swelling up out of nowhere, the trees flying by... lovely.

lester is obviously now the one who knocks, and is ripe for being taken down again.

the sequence with the 'foster kid' was just plain weird.  i hope that gets explained!
