I tried to get to LA once. Ended up in Philadelphia and Pheonix on the way. Unplanned of course, and took 24 hours longer than it said on the ticket I bought...

Never flying American Airlines again.

Right guys. Im going to the States with work, flying with US Airways from Manc to Philly, then Philly on to Pittsburgh. The thing is, i only have 1hr 25 to make the connection. Surely thats not enought time with all the immirgation, and security?

Work has said it will be fine, and as long as my flight is on time i will piss it. Opinions please.

I'm also going down to Florida, and to get home im flying from Jacksonville into Philly (again, about 1hr 25 connection time) then back to Manc.

1 hr 25m is fine - Ive got 1 hour  in Hong Kong at the end of the month and that should be OK.
Conversion into the opposite - a fool who persists in his folly will become wise.

Hong Kong airport (the new airport) doesn't have the sort of hassles you get at major US airports since 911.

Now then. I have a lot of experience with the Gulf Airlines.............

Basically it depends where you are going................e.g. If you're heading to Dubai first, then logically take Emirates. If to ABu Dhabi first, take Etihad. If you're heading to Qatar first, take Qatar Airways (these are the best in the region at the moment by the way).

Now then............if you are going to Kuwait first..........fuck Kuwait Airways off. They are shite an ddon't serve alchohol. So best take Emirates or Qatar and then get another flight from their hubs into Kuwait.

Same deal if you're heading to Saudi Arabia. However, there is not too much choice of flight times into Saudi because no fucker in their right mind wants to go there so you may be stuck with having to take Saudi Arabian Airlines (another shitty one with no beer!).

If you're heading to Oman..........take Emirates or Etihad to their hubs hen hop across the short flight on either those Airlines or Oman Air. Don't do long haul with Oman Air...........not that good. Short haul okay because they bought new 737-400's recently.

Now for Bahrain...............their airline is Gulf Air............it's shit! Take Emirates, Qatar or Etihad from the hubs into Bahrain.

Now for hopping between Gulf States, a few of them have their own low cost internet Easyjet type airlines. Kuwait has Wataniya and Jazeera and Dubai has some other one I can't remember..................hopping using these is a good idea but they are busy,

Hope this helps?

Came in here to ask about American Airlines, US Airways, and Delta (Cattle class)

Any good/bad experiences?

All airlines in America are fucking wank. Towards the end of last year I travelled on Continental, their mini domestic shite subsidary, United, Delta and Air Canada. All crap.
It's wonderful, it's marvellous, it's 3-3

Was torn between Delta and United....

I think Delta is worse. United economy is shocking though from my experiences Economy Plus and above are decent.

I didn't think AA's economy was that bad but I've been Business Class on AA and thought it was sh*t  (to the East Coast).  Definitely not as good as BA's Business Class. AA's First Class is f***king awesome. Doubt I'll be going on that again any time soon though.

The americans have lost touch on what modern airline companies ought to be doing especially when it comes to comfort and customer service both on board and on the ground.

Half-decent IFE that isn't on loop

On a long haul flight, for me this is one of the most important things -particualrly it being 'on demand' rather than a loop. Emirates and Singapore Airlines have been the best I've experienced with regards to IFE (BA & Vigin are decent). Remember being on American Airlines in Business Class about 18 months ago and they didn't even have screens in the back of the seats. Think they docked into the seat and they had forgotten to load them on the plane before leaving. Felt like the longest flight of my life- had to resort to doing actual work!

You're lucky. You should try flying in China. No ipod, no lap tops, no electronics..AT ALL ALLOWED. Period! And thats on a 6-7 hour flight! staring at the celling.

I genuinely think the formula for success on an airline is very simple:

Comfortable seats
Half-decent IFE that isn't on loop
Sensible, edible food.
Staff that give the impression that they're happy to have you on board.

Emirates are the closest I've got to fulfilling all three requirements, and as such, that's the reason why I travel with them.

Mate, you know those kids packs that have colouring and puzzles and stuff?

Maybe you should do one of those next time. I think they have counting, though it was about 10 years ago my baby sister had one of those.

I'm assuming that means for internal flights within China? Drive me nuts if I had to do that!

At least I could snaffle a few complimentary G&T's whilst doing my work!

Was looking at flights back from Delhi in May.

Can get a business class flight for £400 to LHR with....
Uzbekistan Airways, with a change @ Tashkent. Anyone got any experiences??
If you take a look through the last few pages, you'll see that a lot of us have had good experiences with Etihad. Very good airline.

No experince on Uzbekistan Airways but I would not really fancy being on transit in Uzbekistan. No other options?

Loads of options, but for Business it's an extra 600 on top with anyone else (single). Work would pay 400, but not a grand. Just one of my ridiculous pipe dreams.

I wouldn't even get a stamp in the passport either :(

I would save your $ and fly on any other airline that serves the Delhi route on economy. Some of the better airlines now are very comfortable and serve decent grub and have excellent in-flight movies and music as well as comfortable seats.

And you know you won't have problems if you have to change flights or are transit because they are reliable.

Just my 20 cents,.

I'll probably just hit Emirates as usual. Only need 2 more flights for Gold on Skywards this year. No-brainer really.

That's far more likely to get me upgraded than anything.
