Profile pictures in notification bar on Iphone

I recently switched from an Android to an IPhone. What I loved about Android was if I received a message on WhatsApp or Instagram, you could see the persons picture in the notification bar. So if you’re on the go, and see a notification you don’t have to spend 2-3 seconds trying to read the name of the person. You just see the persons name accompanied by a picture.

Especially if you are someone who’s more of a visual person, it’s much easier to digest the notification. Is there anyway I can configure this on IPhone? I hate their way of notifications.

I mean as in, say for example someone on Twitter messages, you usually see their photo in the notification bar on Android. On iPhone it’s just their name. Visually it’s easier to notice who it is straight away when there’s a photo. iPhone doesn’t do that compared to Android. So was wondering how to do it.

If you’ve got their photo in your contacts it shows their photo in the notification.  It does the same for some twitter stuff but not others, so it must be some twitter setting.

I upgraded to IOS 15 on my IPhone 11 because I heard about the contact pictures. But I’m yet to see it on apps like Twitter, WhatsApp and Instagram.

I know it works for IMessage now IOS 15 is here, but haven’t experienced it with other apps.

Which apps have you experienced it on?

You're talking to the least social person in the world to be honest, I only really use iMessage and Slack and they're both showing them. There's only my Dad who uses WhatsApp and I'm sure it showed his but I'm a bastard for clearing them.

I get a picture in the notification if I’m in the app when a message comes through, but not on my home screen.
