Has he struggled this season? Not followed too closely so far.

48-6!

Been poor

47, 45, 0, DNB, 0, 7, 0, DNB - his scores in the County Championship

A couple of half decent scores in the List A stuff but a lot of low scores in that too.

Jennings started with a ton and an 80 and since then has been on the poorer side of so so.

Ben Coad's going to be some bowler. It's every innings now.

Lancs going well and will beat Middlesex. Lancs needs to chase 107. They'll start that run chase shortly.

Somerset need another 76 with 5 wickets left to beat Yorkshire at Taunton. Could have done with a certain drinks carrier.

Good going that as day 2 was a complete wash out. Hopefully a chance to put the Roses battering behind us! Given we still look a bit ropey, a win here would put Lancs in reasonable shape in the table.

No, in a word!

Would be Somerset's first win of the season. And Middlesex heading for their first defeat since 2015. Must be a hell of a side that's about to beat them!

How come Adam Lyth (27 wickets in 140 FC matches) is bowling?

17 needed with 2 wickets left with 9 and 10 in.

I may have spoken too soon then, last time I looked they needed 30 odd with 4 wickets in hand. Proper arsenipper.

19 year old playing his 6th FC match comes in..

EDIT: Overton has no faith in him. First ball of new over SIX, then a 2... 4 needed

Weird isn't it. But Sidey is doing the stuff. 3 wickets as soon as new ball is taken.

No matter now. Yorkshire win by 3 runs.

I guess he was just put on to try and force the batsmen to go for a big swipe. I assume the last wicket was one?

Effing brilliant!

Lyth took the winning wicket! My guess is that Yorkshire weren't trying to tempt a big slog. Rather that Lyth was getting big turn, which he can do. Normally however he's all over the place. Perhaps today - 17 overs afetr all - he wasn't.

Top, top, top, top, top of the league....

Good victory for the Tykes, that. The bowling attack looked very depleted. Plunkett, Willey and Rashid off with England. Bresnan, Brooks and the mighty Coad injured. I guess the only explanation for the victory is that....we are Yorkshire.

Hooray. Keeps Lancs further away from the drop zone anyway, every cloud!

Although I think a win will put us within 10 of Yorkshire somehow, which will put us second although that may change when some of the other matches finish.

Exactly! I remember around that time going into a Sunderland forum to do a Spyin Kop and they had some cricket threads there adamant that we cheated by playing all our home games there!

I've 'graced' the hallowed turf at Aigburth back in the day.

It's a pity that the old tradition of travelling around the counties to play cricket has been ditched now. We play all but two of our first class matches in Leeds now. Back in the day Yorkshire used to come to Huddersfield once a season - as well as Bradford Park Avenue, Bramall Lane, Middlesbrough, Hull, Harrogate, Barnsley and Scarborough.

I did play at Fartown once (the Huddersfield ground) - long since demolished and turned into a supermarket car park.

Century for Cook today in the one day cup semi final against Notts.

103 not out.

Essex going well on 196/3 from 31 overs.

Few players in better form than Cook this year.

Ravi Bopara 10 away from a double ton at Chelmsford.

Essex 515/8 - Tea day 2

Lancs up against it at Old Trafford. Hampshire made 395 and Lancs are 151/4 in reply. Chanderpaul was just dismissed a couple of overs ago.

Middlesex well on top of Yorkshire at Lord's - Middlesex made 446 (tons for Sam Robson and Paul Stirling) and Yorkshire are 88/3 in reply.

Great effort by the Kolpakd lads!

Lancs now have 4 regular Kolpak players playing. Is it healthy for English cricket?

My personal opinion is that Lancs have some really good young players (Davies, Jones, Hameed, Livingstone, Mahmood, Clark, Parkinson) who have the potential to go on to play for England in different formats of the game. Playing in a team without the Kolpak players would almost certainly result in Lancashire being non-competitive in League 1. Supplementing the youngsters with Kolpak players and a few experienced older heads ( Steven Croft, Stephen Parry) gives them a chance to play in a successful team and grow as players.

My bigger concern would be having 4 Kolpak players and a load of county cricket journeymen. We are giving young cricketers a good platform to grow into potential international players and at the same staying competitive as a county.
I think Jookie might just be the best fisherman on this thread.

James Pattinson was in excellent form for Notts against Leics. He finished with match figures of 8/71. He's been phenomenal for us; 28 wickets at an average of 10.50 and a strike rate of 21.9. He'll be a big loss but least he'll be available for us in the One-Day Cup final next week before he leaves.

Great turn around by Lancs. Probably end up a draw but still very encouraging signs.

Yorkshire on the other hand... well they're gonna lose by an innings and plenty.

Essex likely to remain top after this. Fair play to them coming up from Div 2 and riding high at the summit of Div 1.

Watched the highlights of Jimmy Anderson's bowling spell yesterday. He was unlucky to only get 3 wickets. Beat the bat countless times.

Anderson and Jarvis as an opening bowling pair is arguably the best in country at county level

Full round of Day/Night county championship fixtures have just started. Playing from 2-9pm each day with a pink ball (potentially up til 10pm). Could be messy, will have to see how it pans out.

Mohammed Amir playing his first game for Essex and took a wicket in his first over. Sounds a very good signing for them, they already have Middlesex 4-2.

it's going to rain this week, and it doesn't get dark at this time of year until about 9pm, which I believe is the scheduled close of play.

I'm not against it but the timing seems odd.
