When Ralfie won here he cried, he just got hammered and he’s smiling away, strange lad he is.

I'm glad we didn't do anything to upset him.

Only managed to catch the last 15 minutes as away with the missus for the weekend but saw the goal highlights and the stats look like total domination.

Good stuff redmen, now I guess we have to hope Utd get something tomorrow

Four pages. It must have been an easy win.  :)

The goals:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULFgnO_QGK8

Based on that, they were clearly all over us and we just got lucky. ;)

Although we were a bit sloppy at times early on Southampton never troubled us. We hardly got out of 3rd gear.
That was a really lovely win indeed, it was thoroughly enjoyable just to sit back and watch us maintain absolute control for the full 90.
A Thiago and VVD goal in the same game is stuff to dream of :)

Boss again, up the fucking Reds, bring on the shite.

Feet up tomorrow hoping for one or both of city/chelsea drop points.  Consolation if they don’t will mean the hammers and Utd will drop.

Still a case that every win we’ve had has been with a clean sheet. Bit mad!

Also pretty much averaging 3 goals per game in all comps. Also a bit mad.

Strange game in a way. Looked like we could score anytime we wanted, it really could have been 7+, but also looked careless at times and but for Ali and a few tackles from Virgil, could have easily conceded soft goals.  Also a great block from Konate - although he was caught out a couple of times - but I keep having to remind myself he is pretty young for a centre back and think he will be immense. Virgil was playing in second gear.

The game had some moments of great football, Thiago is such a great player going forward, but prone to a few blind passes that get us into trouble. Salah is just incredible, ran them ragged. Mane unlucky not to get a goal, from where I was sat that looked a really tight decision. Jota really should have had 4 or 5 but was excellent.

Wish Marriner could work out what is a foul and what isn't. He has to be the most inconsistent ref in the league.

On the quiet pretty bad defensively but didn't get punished.

Very good going forward as we have been all season

538 had the composite score (based on adjusted score 4.2-0.0, shot-based xG 2.7-1.4 and non-shot xG 2.4-0.7) as 3.1-0.7. Dominant, but still narrower than 4-0.

Just think, if we hadn't dropped points against Brentford and Brighton, we would be 3 points clear of Chelsea at the top.

The “front four” have scored 29 goals in the PL. More than every PL club other than Chelsea with 30.

Lovely stuff.

Four goals, another clean sheet, no injuries, valuable minutes for some players, and we took our foot off the gas later in the game to conserve energy (although still looked like scoring right to the end).

That was a clinical, professional performance, and I think we might have learned from those frustrating draws and the West Ham defeat, as we seemed a bit more compact and able to manage the game when needed - for which Thiago and Fabinho are key.

The highlight of the game was all those shouts of 'Shoot' as we passed it around virtually the whole team - including a big shout when the ball was played back to Alisson  ;D

Onwards and upwards.

Yeah, I last commented on that a month ago.

I mentioned this after the Watford game; we’ve kept a clean sheet in every league win so far.  21 - 0 over 6 wins.

It’s mad that it’s still the case. It’s as if the longer we’re in the lead, the more determined Alisson and the CB become to keep their clean sheet. There’s been a few last minute saves and clearances.

We’re 29-0 from our 8 league wins.

I'd be worried if I was a Saints fan. Without Ings' goals, you look at their team on paper and it screams relegation. They desperately need Armstrong to come good.

Pretty gutted that Thiago's goal was deflected, because that looked destined for the top corner and it would have been a hell of a goal given the build-up.

Thought Bednarek could have been sent off. Found it a bit strange more wasn't made of it at the time.

Completely different game as they played deep and caught us on break and we were naive. Should have been more nasty with fouls.

We blew Saints away today with Ali making one very important save.

Yeah, I posted earlier that 538 had a composite score of 3.1-0.7.

Adjusted score: 4.2-0.0
Shot based xG: 2.7-1.4
Non shot xG: 2.4-0.7

If people only look at shot based xG then it appears a much closer game, but our overall performance was dominant.

Nice win. Can’t complain at 4-0, and with Bobby injured, and neither Mo nor Sadio getting on the score sheet, it tells me that others are stepping up as needed. It all augurs well for the season ahead. Goals from all over.

On the downside we were slightly too open, though it seems churlish to say after a 4-0 win. Still, we always need something to be concerned about as fans.

On to the bitters. Hopefully Rafa will have them trying to play, instead of kicking us off the park. If Rich Snarlison is on the pitch, I’d like Konate to smash into him. Not in a career ending way, or in a way that causes injury - though he deserves it, but in a way that shakes him up and helps him to see the error of his ways.

Hopefully our football will do the talking and the bitters chase shadows as we win well. It’s a derby though. So who knows?

Last night I went to bed thinking "game tomorrow. Hope we don't somehow get beat." in the usual pessimistic manner that somehow always manages to creep in.

Not with with this team, though. It still hasn't really sunk in, despite the past couple of years, just how fucking good we really are. They say the league table doesn't lie. I think it does.

I thought Southampton played wide open and didn’t change their set up at all. They didn’t do a Burnley and play two banks of four in front of the box.  They let Liverpool play our way and on a day when our front three played very well it was just an easy win. Beautiful to watch.

First time at Anfield this season. Lovely stuff.

We weathered the early storm (11 seconds) of Southampton pressure, defending their corner. After that it was a terribly comfortable afternoon. Almost killed it with such magnificence so early on.

I spent the second half having chats with strangers and just lapping up this incredible football team that Jurgen has built.

On another day they might have scored a few to make it a little nervy, but with the style both teams play there were always going to be chances and this game lived up to that. It was great to watch.

Robbo was absolutely brilliant today. He has had some pressure put on him by Tsimikas, but today he really showed his quality. Competition for places is really what we need to be consistently at the sharp end of the table. Probably the best game Robbo has played all season. I thought his form had dipped a little, but back to his barnstorming best today.

Totally dominated them. Our pressing was good but not at our ruthless best and we still kept winning the ball back in midfield. Thiago was a bit wayward in the first 10-15 minutes but then put his stamp on the game. Actually, not even an average performance from anyone today. First class across the board.

Onto the the Bitters and Rafa now. Didn’t look like anyone really had to exert themselves today so we should be the fresher. With the plastics and City in good form, we have to keep winning just to keep up with the oace at the top of the table. Important week this and we started the right way.

I'd rather play for Liverpool Reserves than Everton.

Thought it was today!  :-[

Now I need to find a replay, sharpish!

In such a sumptuous festival of shite, I wouldn't be so quick to pick a winner..

But he'd make the shortlist
