Metroid Dread on the Nintendo Switch
« on: October 7, 2021, 04:31:06 am »
Scored highly reading the first reviews last night... I created a separate thread because it has been a 15-year wait for this game.

During the recording sessions in Los Angeles, Spector held Johnny at gunpoint, forcing him to repeatedly play a riff.

This will be on my Christmas list to my missus. Looks like a proper and true Super Metroid sequel.

You have to have some patience, I got pissed off at the second encounter with this dog-like robot, tried for 45 minutes to defeat it, in the end, I went online and found the solution; after that, future encounters are challenging but fun.. the game is not unfair.

I've never played any Metroid before but figured I'd give this a go.

It has quite a steep learning curve. I did not enjoy it at all at first – bar the visuals and the atmosphere. And those E.M.M.I. encounters (^ the dog robot) are even more panic inducing than the ones with the guardians in BOTW.

I needed the help from a few online guides/walkthroughs in the beginning. Now, after about three hours of gameplay, I feel like I've started to get the hang of it. The gameplay definitely becomes a lot more rewarding (and addictive) once you've retrieved a couple of Samus' abilities.

Okay, I'm loving it now, but about 12 hours in, I'm finally stuck.

Has anyone managed to get past the
Spoiler
Twin Chozo Robot Soldiers
[close]
?

That part is doing my head in.

No one playing this any more? I made it to the final boss after just under 10 hours of in-game playing time. It really is a lot of fun once you have most of the abilities back. I was just tracking back through all the various levels for a while looking for energy and missile tanks that I hadn't been able to access before. It's amazing how fast and free you can suddenly move.
