I'm way more skeptical on him than this - he's not putting up the underlying numbers that would indicate he's a CL level player at least at the moment
I haven't watched him much and obviously he's 22 so can still develop but I'm not sure I can see what he does at an elite level? or what he might do at an elite level.
He's one of the few I let the numbers guide me less on. His production is patently elite, but when you actually take away penalties his production is decent, not brilliant. I watch all of Fiorentina's games and their attack last season was dire, they scored 47 last season, less than Torino who barely avoided the drop, several placed below Fiorentina. He has an ability to take chances when he really only gets a couple per game, and he's still running a non-penalty XG+XA of 0.46 per 90 despite an improved Fiorentina once again being goal-shy and focused on solidity and shape.
He's aggressive, carries the ball well, fantastic in the air and still manages 2.63 shots per 90 without penalty kicks. I think there's enough there, at his age, in the team and system he's in to suggest he could step up considerably in more copacetic surroundings. I think he'd be excellent with a pacier forward round him, which he now has at Fiorentina in Gonzalez, who when fit has been a nice foil that's assisted in Vlahovic bagging 8 in his first 12 league games this season (50% of his team's goals). I think he'd suit Dortmund in tandem with Malen when Haaland inevitably leaves.
