Yep, I'm convinced that all the 'brown' which people would normally attribute to Autumn is actually plants being scorched.

Some of it is yeah but the reds/oranges are definitely coming through from the Hawthorne and Rowan berries.

Went to the 80's rewind festival with the missus yesterday, topped up me tan, dead brown now  :D

That word is banned in our house until November. Selfridges should be fucking ashamed of themselves for this http://www.ladbible.com/latest/uk-selfridges-are-launching-their-christmas-range-in-august-20180803

I used to think it was silly but as the article states its pretty sensible from the likes of Selfridges and Harrods. Tourists go mad for Christmas and buy loads of decorations.

There is a shop in Stratford Upon Avon where they just sell Christmas stuff all year long and that always seems to be pretty busy with tourists.

Got dragged into one of these in Islands of Adventure in Orlando last May, was not fucking happy.

I get the logic of the big stores and tourists and have done it myself, but just have a Christmas dept without all the Tinsel and shit. I hate the over commercialisation of Christmas as it is, so seeing the decs up in August would piss me right off. When we had our honeymoon in Orlando in Sept/Oct 07, we bought a couple of Christmas things, a big lecky Disney snowglobe and a Father Christmas that told the Night Before Christmas. However, these were just on a shelf in the shop we bought them from, no tinsel etc hanging up.

I can deffo feel it more this week . It's when the sun aint playing out or when it's close to dusk and the wind blowing through the trees in the park has a different vibe to it. There's one part in Sevvie Park that you can really see it and feel it. If you come in from the top end of Lark Lane and cut straight ahead in between the bowling greens and the tennis courts . I must cycle through at least four or five times a day and Autumn is evident.

It's always nice feeling the seasons turn but the hello Winter one depresses me.

Do most go by the Meteorological or Astronomical summer? I always go with the Astrological, so for me summer started 21st June and runs til 23rd Sept, rather than 1st June til end of August.

More the meteorological summer for me, although it's the kids going back to school that has always marked the end of summer for me.

It's been a weird summer. I've enjoyed all the fantastic weather since late April, but with a subconscious sense that summer only *really* starts when the kids break up - and it was around that time that the persistent brilliant summer weather started to wane. I feel like I've wasted the best summer since 1995.

Noticed it for the first time yesterday morning when walking the dog around 6am, definite nip to the air, despite it being gloriously sunny.

Today is very autumnal so far, heavy cloud and stronger winds

I know people say this every year but is it me, or is it getting darker earlier now?

I subconsciously noticed the light was going at 9:30pm the other night and kidded myself it should really happen in September?

We're past the summer solstice, so yes, it gets dark earlier every day. :P

Because of the sinosodial nature of the path of the sun in the sky, the change is more rapid at certain times of the year, than at others. Near the solstices, sunrise and sunset vary only by a few seconds every day, but near the equinoxes (?) several minutes of daylight are lost or gained every day.

Sunset in Liverpool is 20:50 today. :(

No, it's no different this year re timings of the sunset, but the nights have been a bit lighter due to the better weather and lack of clouds. I usually drop the missus at the Rewind festival in Capesthorne and pick her up at 9:45 and it is always dark when I get there. I went with her this year, got picked up around the same time I used to pick her up and it was noticeably a lot lighter.

As someone else said the days get shorter after the Summer Solstice. I think it's a couple of minutes a day. Same as the Winter Solstice and I love getting past that and I love January as you can notice the days getting slightly longer. What I really love about January though is you can start hearing new bird songs at dawn.

Its August the 5th, not October the bleedin 29th, ye barn pots. The brown leaves are due to the current drought/heatwave/summer thingy, you may have noticed of late. Partially mentioned on the news once.

I guess yous have already written your letter to Father Christmas?

You are speaking to someone who doesnt do Chrimbo and one of the reasons I love January is because Chrimbo is out the way. I remember getting back from France once late October after being away since June and a pub in Liverpool had the best 100 Chrimbo shit songs on the telly. I got depressed instantly. Last year I went to France at the start of September and my local had its Chrimbo menu things on the wall. That depressed me too. Going back to the Autumn thing. Its something I feel and hear in the wind
