It was due for completion in 3 months so can’t see, unless construction sites are shut down for 6+ months, why we’d delay it 12.

Presumably it was timed to open during the close season to minimise disruption. For instance a lot of the specialised equipment will need moving from Melwood to Kirkby. So maybe it makes sense to wait for the next close season.

I would guess it will be used in the other direction, playing balls played off the wall/rebounds, etc...

Too much risk of diving into the wall otherwise.

Cheers for that. You could get a good idea from Craig's pics, but having them scaled really does show the difference.
Looks like a good community facility too. I remember reading an article about how amateur football in Liverpool had been affected by a lack of decent pitches, so I hope this helps.
