Incident at Manchester Arena
« on: May 22, 2017, 11:12:11 pm »
Reports of two loud bangs at Manchester Arena and people fleeing the concert that was on . Hope it is nothing serious and is just a pyrotechnic/ speaker blowing causing a scare.

Police confirming an incident- hope everyone is ok

Looking at the video clips it doesn't look like a bomb went off, speakers exploding makes more sense

Looks like tommy Robinson is going to have a late night

There is a fake photo doing the rounds which was originally said to be of the arena showing something quite grim. Ignore or report as and when you see it.

I saw a few posts saying injuries were caused by people panicking, running and trampling over others.  Twitter is like Chinese whispers on acid though.

Hopefully its just the major incident plan kicking in and they are not required.

Social media is both useful and stupid if people are sharing pictures of other places, as jackh says there will be people with kids/family there worried about what is going on.

This journalist says he saw people leaving covered in blood and that he heard the explosion from his house just down the road.

If people heard it from across the street, can a heavy duty speaker blowing out actually be that loud?

They're fucking huge, so I guess so. They hang over the crowd too so debris could cause injury.

I guess the real worry is the panic caused by it if that is true.

Literally the biggest problem with Twitter is that people will do near enough anything for a post that gets 100 likes or RTs, regardless of the cost.

Could the reporta of the two explosions be a speaker going then blowing the transformer/ or vice versa?

Fingers crossed there are no serious injuries, people panicking and stampeding by the videos posted

The pushing and shoving coming out of that place under normal circumstances is terrible, I can only begin to imagine what it's like if there is a panic situation.

There's a man calling into BBC news who says he ran in, looking for his wife and daughter, and there were "a lot" of bodies.
