They are in pretty rotten form and the manager was clearly using them as a stepping stone and wanted out as soon as a better job came up. Not surprised

Oof.  Sticking the boot into the bitters there.

What a shit show, no-one has ended up with what they wanted.  Still, it's left Everton with Allardyce in charge, so quite humourous from an outsiders point of view.

Watford have a decent squad and a modern stadium. As Elton John is a Watford fan, you may get free concert tickets and as far as I am aware, the mayor of Watford is not a fat bellend who calls radio shows to slag off the team.

How is Everton a step up from this?

My guess is that Silva wanted Everton massively, there was a bit of a to-do behind the scenes and Watford stopped it from happening and Silva is still massively in a strop about it.

If Watford have sacked him after stopping him going to Everton then pretty much every team involved has lost out. Apart from us. Because it’s very funny and Everton have ended up with a complete grok of a manager over Silva who I rate.

"The chronology makes this case compelling. Watford were sixth and had only lost to Manchester City and Chelsea when Ronald Koeman was sacked by Everton on October 23. Noises from the dressing room reaffirm this theory; several players privately concede that they sensed Silva’s lack of commitment and lost focus. Some admit to asking Silva whether he would take them to Everton with him, shattering the team spirit and unity which, along with the more attacking style of football introduced by the Portuguese, had underpinned their outstanding start to the season."

Not surprised. They may be in tenth but they are 5pts off relegation and in freefall since Silva had his head turned after a few weeks. Unlike Stoke or Everton I would assume they have someone lined up given the rate at which they sack managers, even those like Jokanovic and Sanchez Flores who have done well. People will argue they should have taken the £15m, but shouldn't clubs expect a manager's commitment to last longer than 6 or so games?

Did well before he went to Hull. Did very well with an awful Hull team...was doing well with Watford ( 21 points in 13 games ) but they went into a tailspin ( 5 from their next 11? ). Age firmly on his side, so he'll need to choose his next job wisely.

People are just eating up the Watford line here. There seemed to be problems from the start with them making transfer decisions that he didn't know about. Pozzo is now looking for his ninth manager since he took over the club in June 2012. And that's not including Sean Dyche, generously to them, who they sacked because they'd already agreed for Zola to come in.

Joke owners turning the club into a joke and blaming Silva for the whole situation is ridiculous.

Given how quickly they replace managers, it only makes sense for any manager going there to treat it as a short-term role or a stepping stone though.

It is their management approach - there is an excellent article from the BBC on their model and structure http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/41710640

Pretty clear Silva is talented, but both himself and the players look to have had their heads turned. Silva will be fine, he will pick up another Premier League job easily.

Watford are geared for managerial change. The manager is a just a cog in a set system that is easily replaced. The backroom staff are not replaced. It is not hugely different to replacing a player. Once Silva's head was turned, it made sense to pull the trigger. It won't change much in how the club is run. Watford know they are a stepping stone, and they are geared to losing their manager as soon as he shows that he is any good.

And with that being the case, nobody should be surprised when a coach is looking to leave, when given a whiff of greener grass. Like I said, unfortunately for him, he didn't leave when he was on a good moment ( Thanks Jurgen ).

watford are correct in sacking him, its pretty clear he head has turned and he has been unprofessional about it all. At the same time though, every club does what everton have done (try to "steal" managers from other clubs) so they can't complain about it.

that watford piece is laughable though, most clubs now set up systems so managers don't have to do scouting, negotiations etc  and them lauding the fact they haven't sacked a manager mid way..well they just proved they are not  as special as they like to think they are. Its just a massive spin story to get away from the fact they are trigger happy. I'm getting the vast majority of clubs keep their backroom staff apart from the odd ones they normally come in (i.e klopps two assistants)

They are entitled to take this approach, but equally true, they cannot expect loyalty from managers either as they will all be aware that their time will be limited with the club. Also, while it is important for them to be prepared to survive changing managers, they need to be realistic about their ceiling and not just change one because they merely avoided relegation.

Their model is based on this "shelf life of a mid-table coach" theory but it's a self-fulfilling prophecy when you bin those coaches after a year, which is what they are doing in one way or another.

That's a very non-coach friendly model. The people above the coach decide the frequency and intensity of the workload. They may as well just hire and old-school "trainer" and then pick the team and tactics themselves!
