Strictly come dancing
« on: October 31, 2012, 12:36:30 pm »
OK - I'll bite, as the previous thread was closed for being too old, let's discuss the current series. It's probably not at the top of most footy fans watch list, but I must admit to becoming hooked on it. If we can have a 62 page thread discussing the total dross that is the X Factor, I'm sure we must have some Strictly fans on here?

Who is your tip to win?  I'm going for Louis, especially as Darcy appears to be in love with him and will give him high marks just for being there.

I watch, but being as if it wasn't for ballroom dancing i wouldnt exist (it's how my parents met), i'm allowed.  And that my excuse and im sticking to it! :D

I'd have Kimberley or Denise from the girls or Louis from the guys as favourites.  Was hoping Victoria would go far but not sure now.

The Halloween show last week was brilliant as it always is.  The makeup, sets and costumes were fantastic and you can tell a lot of time and effort had gone into it.

The whole show simply doesn't feel as contrived and as tacky as X-factor.

Oh yeah, and a round of applause for Dave Arch and his wonderful Orchestra.

Dave Arch IS Glen Ponda :)

I'd never really watched it before, but have been watching this years, and I'm actually quite enjoying it.   I also have to say that Michael Vaughan as a contestant helped a wee bit too.

I'm not exactly bothered who will/should win it, but it was great to see Vaughny put in a decent performance last week.

I love Louis and Vicky Pendleton, but like the other contestants too.

Yeah - it was quite a surprise, given how abysmal he'd been the week before, but he was really good.

I always think the guy behind looks like Angel from Dextor.

Anyhow. Yes, Strictly is a great big pantomime of cheesey entertainment and I love it. Haven't got into this series as much as I have in the past but it always leaves you with a smile on your face and that can't be bad. Loved little Chris Hollins a few years back (I'm that old I saw his dad play at Anfield!) ably supported by wonderful sexy little Ola.

I was sent to Ballroom Dancing nigh on every Saturday morning from the age of 7 to 12 (then i told my parents to do one) wasn't much fun back then.  Have a greater appreciation of it these days though.  A guy i used to work with does salsa with his missus, says its great.

Takes me back to my schooldays. God knows why but thought it may be a good idea to do this posh dancing lark.
The class was taken by an old dragon who used to lift the needle off her record player after two minutes, a bit like pass the parcel at a kids party, when we were supposed to move on to the next girl in the circle.
We forgot about trying to dance, just looked at the next girl in the line and spent two minutes trying to overtake that couple if she was grim!!  Never learned to dance ..........

Depends what he does - if it's a ballroom dance, he's pretty good. If he has to do Latin, he usually struggles.

Nicky is definately the weakest of the ones left now, wouldnt be surprised to see him in the dance off and get eliminated.

I'm guessing 2 couples will go next week as there has in the last 2 series semi-final and other than Dani and Kimberley it's difficult to pick out of Louis, Denise and Lisa which two might go.(assuming Nicky goes tonight)

Edit: Just realised it's on now but i'm watching Elf so will see if i was right later. :D
