Go to YouTube and search a game + max settings. I would imagine that's what to expect from ps4 graphics wise.

Hopefully the power(?) can make sandbox games feel lifelike in terms of AI and possible options etc. Oh fuck it I'm blabbering just want it to be good.

It will be good. You'll get some people tell you PC will be better as it'll run games at higher settings - for most games that's probably true, to be honest most of my games have been bought on PC lately.

But look at stuff like Uncharted - that's running on 7 year old technology now, when developers get used to the console and push it to the limits some pretty amazing games will be released for it.

Can't wait for this, and I hear it'll have a feature that allows us to play ps3 games on it, SORTED!

I still remember getting my ps3 back then, Motorstorm and Resistance. Decent, put some hours into resistance online, had the best party setup I've seen on ps3. Motorstorm series started off well but went downhill.
yep, i remember playing resistance 1 and being blown away. Still a great game too but obviously in comparison to todays releases it doesn't hold up graphics -wise.

something that the ps3(the later releases anyway) badly missed
I would honestly let Wijnaldum jizz in my face right now

In all seriousness though, who used their PS3 to play PS2 games, more than say once or twice?

I mean yeah nifty feature, but I never had to urge to play PS2 games when I had shiny new next gen games wanting to be played.  If you have a PS3 now and you need to sell it to finance a 4, then fair enough - I'm in the same boat as you.

But I'll be spending my time playing new games, not old ones.

If there are classic games you miss out on, I'm sure PS3's will be nice and cheap in a year-18 months time to pick up then.

It really depends on the game, some are good enough to transcend better graphics/more recent release. for example, prior to the HD versions being made available then I had no way of playing MGS2 and 3 on my PS3. I still love playing old games on my PC like Day of the Tentacle and Monkey Island despite their age. Sometimes there is just no equivalent available on the newer console of a classic and backward compatibility gives you that until one is available.

Got it on good authority that the specs that have been leaked are intentionally fake to make it look unable for 4k. It'll either be 4k ready or have the ability for to have 4k later on with either firmware or hardware peripherals.

I don't see why they cannot add stuff in a firmware, they did with 3D.

But I don't have any belief it will be for games, it's surely for movies and BluRay.  Games don't even run at a decent res at the moment, let alone 4k.

Are there even graphics cards out there at the moment that could handle 4k resolution at more than like 20 fps?

It's pure processing power. You don't particularly have to have one huge resolution image, as 4 separate 1080p images together can give you more or less the same outcome at a much more capable handling rate.

I expect it to be £350+ here personally, but £300 would be great. Same price as the  Wii U Premium and a hell of a lot more powerful.

Not sure. You have to remember when the last gen launched it coincided with a real push for HD content. So not only was the hardware better in the systems but you were viewing a much sharper picture too.

Most likely mate, but you have to remember that last time we have the jump from SD to HD to coincide with the console launches.

£300 would be surprising but great and would probably tip me over the edge to getting it pretty much on day one!

From browsing around the net it would appear that £300 is a sweet spot for many, lets hope Sony are paying attention and have learnt the lessons of PS3 and Vita.

A corresponding price drop for Vita would also be nice, if they can link the two up well going forward.

Can't wait to see what comes out on Wednesday.

PC gaming is awesome and Consoles will never match the power of PC.  However theirs still reasons to buy consoles , Some of the finest console games never make it to PC, Uncharted, Red dead Redemption Little big planet,  MGS3, MGS4 Gears 2, Gears 3, theirs many more e.t.c.   God knows when gta 5 will hit PC aswell a year later then It's console date I bet.

£300 and a 'system seller' game at launch and I could see me picking one up for Christmas 2013.

I think consoles drag gaming back in terms of evolution, I'm not necessarily talking about how good the games look either. Look at games such as DayZ or Planetside 2, very unique experiences which are only possible on PC. You can throw Minecraft in with that too, though you can play a dumbed down version on the 360.

Doesn't mean there aren't stellar games for consoles, it's a different experience. Personally find playing on a PC much more immersive and playing on a PS3 is a lot more casual.

Well because you have hardware limits you have to find other ways to keep the player immersed. Whether its through storytelling or UGC. Games like UC2 whilst not being the best looking game ever, (was on a console like) had some of the best set pieces, it was a roller coaster, not bad for 9 year old hardware. Heavy Rain, very emotive, great story, immersed you with each character. LBP had a massive amount of UGC, millions of users creating endless amounts of levels, with simple yet powerful editors. And finally journey which you've clearly never ever played. Done on 9 year old hardware. All available on a console that's costs around 150 quid.

There's loads of reasons to game and develop on a console. Just like a PC. Each offer different games and different experiences.

The thing is even if they unit was £300, all store selling it are going to bundle in about 3 games and some move stuff and the minimum you'll be able to get it for in the first few weeks would be around £379-£399.

I reckon around a month after launch those bundles will start to break up and you'll be able to buy on it's own in more places.

It's not about hardware anymore. It's all about development cycles, which in turn are depended on better development tools and middleware technologies. I think a lot of people are going to be a bit disappointed by how the next batch of console games are going to look in comparison to what's already out there, especially on the PC.
