9/10

Fallout: New Vegas is the game that many wanted Fallout 3 to be. It's harder, more ruthless, better written and more morally ambiguous. It's a game we’ve been wanting to play for more than a decade, a real modern re-imagining of the Fallout series, complete with that deliciously black humour. But it's also more of the same, aesthetically and technically identical to Fallout 3, wonky facial animation and all. The ever-so-slightly ageing technology only marginally detracts from what is otherwise an expansive, fulfilling and ambitious game, unmatched in scope and maturity. If Obsidian were to make another Fallout game, we certainly wouldn't say no.

Goddammit!!!

Got my new HD telly today. Haven't put it up yet. Others are already playing this, I'm waiting for my pre-order to come. If I put that telly up tomorrow and this game doesn't come I think I'm going to explode.
I trust the King, but if we lose a few more on the trot now - he may have to step aside, and we have to purchase another manager in the middle of the season. If we are relegated, this could be the end of our ambitions to win any title the next 100 years.

Really does sound like it's the mode to play the game in. Think I'm going to step up to the challenge. Any kind of Deathclaw hive or equivalent will be fearsome in hardcore.

Is that the setting were ammo has weight? That'd be rock hard.

Thursday? Fuck that, I want mine tomorrow!

Got an email from Play.com this morning, which back in the day used to mean you'd definitely be getting it the next day. Not now though.

This got leaked almost a week ago. They should have released it yesterday when that happens. Stops people downloading it quite so rapidly.

Hopefully there will be more ammo in this game, I spent a lot of my time on Fallout 3 searching for ammo.

May get this, will probably wait and see what everybody else thinks of it first though!

There's plenty of people to buy ammo from so that hasn't really been a problem, and bad guys usually have some on them too. I've never run out anyway. Probably a different story on hardcore.

The maps can be so frustrating in this game. You'll be pointed one way to your mission, you go through a door, and it points you straight back the door you came through. ARGH! Or you spend a few hours doing a quest, only to get to the last bit of it and.....you need 90 in science to complete it.

Still i can't stop playing the fucking thing though.

Yeah I know what you mean about the maps, it can be frustrating at times. They used the same pointer system as Oblivion and it's kind of flawed.

Definitely starting in Hardcore mode. I'm hardcore.

Any supermarkets got this on offer? Got Friday off work for a mammoth session on this.  :wave

Does this game feature, ugly, dark, identical, depressing tunnels and interiors as heavily as the last game? One of minor complaints about F3 (along with the godawful map/navigation) was how similar and depressing they were to navigate, I know it's realistic with it being post-apocalyptic and all, but a bit of colour or variety wouldve been nice.

I loved this aspect of Fallout 3.
You have to mix up your weapons a bit and that is good.

Will probably start in Hardcore as many others as it increases the level of immersion into the game.

Can't wait for this. Gonna have a stroll into town early tomorrow and pick up a copy and then lock myself in front of my 42" LED bad boy with a weekends worth of Beer and food. Kwality. Only sticking point with this plan of course is the home loss to Blackburn on Sunday...

Nope, and our postie's just been as well, so Play can fuck off in future. Won't be ordering another game from them.

Their service used to be absolutely brilliant, but since they've grown it's now all '3 - 5 days' when it used to next day. Second time they've not got the game to me on the Thursday, so I'll just pop down the shop first thing Friday morning from now on.

c*nts.

Shopto are pretty good on delivery, usually come a day early unless the developer are really strict. My Fallout showed up this morning, haven't had a chance to play it yet though.

Yeah, I may go with them in the future. Heard nothing but good things. Although if they get too big for their boots they'll probably end up the same as Play.

I would be if I had it. So utterly fucked off with Play right now.

My postie doesn't come round until about 1.30pm, sometimes later. I've got to get up tomorrow and know I could just go and buy it, but instead will have to sit there waiting for it to be delivered.

I could do some work or something beforehand I suppose... ;)

Can't compare to FO3 as i never got round to playing that one. This one is pretty bleak alright, but i've just arrived at New Vegas and at it's massively different to the rest of the landscapes, much brighter.

The maps on this again though, UGH. If only this game had the polish of a game like Mass Effect, it'd truly be something special.
