Emlyn18 heres one answer

Barmyflags.com

banners-for-all.co.uk

Barmy flags is a quality firm!  he's based about 10 mins away from me and he has made flags for me slightly cheaper because  I'm local and can pick up flags.  Also on the Tuesday night before turkey I went to pick up a Carra flag which was missing a 4 foot European cup.  He knocked it up in an 1 1/2 hours and sacked off his other work to make sure I had it for the next day while i waited.  Quality guy and his flags are truly professional.  You should have seen this Sunderland crest he was making, it looked fantastic and took about 6 hours of overlapping material and all stitched!!

Expensive at times, but they are something you keep forever especially when they look this good and hand stitched, washable and flame retardant!! (Boss Wednesday agreement requirement for some crap flags)

advise needed please.

i'm doing my letters in white emulsion just like i did with the one in my avartar, but whats the best way of painting the images? i'm doing two eternal flames and 5 european cups, i have cut stencils out of cardboard for them (so i just need to paint INSIDE of the cut-out not around it) i just need to know which type of paint i should use?

will using emulsion ruin the images?

A quick look on page 2 of this thread reveals....

Quick note if using fabric paint.  Mix it with stuff called fabric medium, its like a paint and will be with the fabric paint you buy.  It makes the paint a bit plasticy and bond to the material when you iron it, thus a non cracking or flaking picture ;) ;)

Roper (or anyone, really), interesting thread and very useful. I am hoping to start production, as it where, on a new Shankly flag. Wanting it to be very, very big, but have no clue how to go about getting a picture big enough for it. In your thread you say print out templates etc, but;
1) I have a Deskjet 930C which only prints out A4, and
2) I want an actual pic.

I know it's possible, I've seen it done, but me being a luddite am clueless.
Thanks for any help, in advance.

April 2nd I sent this, still way off
We're on the case, one painfully slow step at a time

You print it to A4, and then you need someone with access to an industrial, office, photocopier...they can be blown up to any size really...obviously its printed onto A4 sheets, but you may have 30 sheets that make a massive image, you have to stick em together, and then cut it out.

Another option is a proper printers?

That will be handy for me too.

Also does anyone have a link, or can post, some images of the liver bird (simple version if possible), euro cup and eternal flame in white without any edges so I can put them onto a powerpoint slide and design a flag.

Ta in advance.

It looks like it's painted too - what types of paints did you use. I am hoping to make a banner for the next game I can get to. I've posted it in the New Banners thread, but am just undecided whether to paint or sew it. I (my ma) stiched the last one I did for Truth Day and it took ages. Paint looks just as good, if not clearer and sharper so if I can get some good paint advice I won't bother stiching the new one I make.

Its stitched mate, but i did a painted one a while back for Vladi at the bordeaux game and used gloss paint and masking tape allthough it needed about 5 coats, so allow plenty of time. I was up at 2am the night before the game with a hairdryer on the fucker!

Painted banner:

Agree with Christoph, some of those banners are top scope.

Thanks for the advice on the paint; can't wait to get started on my two new banners. Just hope I can get to Anfield again this season to show them. If worse comes to worst, I'm going to the Villa game but sitting with the home fans, so could pass it onto some kind hearted red to hang up in the away end.

How not to make a Liverpool FC Flag.

This is a story about how one of mates who I go to the match with made his flag.
This is a lot of years ago, and he'd just started at Loughborough Uni. Him and a couple of mates decided to make a flag for a game, I can't remember which one. They got a sheet of red fabric and laid it in the floor of his bedroom, drew the letters on then nipped off to the paint shop to get some white wall paint. They painted in all the letters and it looked quite good and they left it to dry. On the saturday they tried to pick the flag up but it was stuck to the floor. They hadnt laid anything under it so all the paint seeped through. they eventually scraped it off the floor only for an exact copy to be made of the flag on his carpet! needless to say when he left at the end of the year and his room was checked he incurred a fine for his carpet and maybe its still there now.
