Lots of shouts for a steward from behind me in the upper king kenny at about 85 minutes. Then for a medic. Lots of activity up there. Hope whoever it was is ok!

BBC stats list them as having 5 shots off target and 0 on target.

Very similar to Huddersfield.

Perfect afternoon indeed. And you're right about our defence, though I think it's worth saying that it was because the balanced midfield did their bit defensively, and then all of the back four won their battles. They made it look easy, and made it seem like Southampton weren't trying, but our back five worked hard for it, stayed switched on and deserved the clean sheet.

yeah very true about the midfield, and everything just looks more compact now too, which is helping.

Only saw the second half since my streams were shite in the first. Little shaky for a few minutes around the 50th minute, complete control otherwise. Exact type of performance we need to beat teams that play like that, and conserve energy for the hectic schedule coming up. Nice to keep the very good home defensive record going, let's hope we can get it going away as well.

Loving Moreno at the moment.

Really good afternoon and, for me, there's still lots more to come from this squad - even before we add any extras in Jan. We're not in top gear yet but we're beginning to move nicely through the gears. Pleased for Lovren to have a good game, especially against his old side.

I'm excited for the return of Lallana too - I think he's particularly important against the top sides.

Hendo MOM for me. played great in the first half hour when everyone was half a sleep and continued at a high level till the final whistle. Salah and Bobby very good. Back 4 were all very good again. Much needed confidence boost for Lovren. The Ox lively again in his cameo.

Too funny. Did you hear Anfield when he needlessly killed another counter attack?

Southampton weren't playing through midfield. They were hoofing it up to Long deep. Henderson wasn't troubled. Is that why you make him man of the match?

Alternatively, he realised scoring another goal was less important than not conceding one at that stage of the game so... possession was sensible game management?

Salah and Coutinho are both weighing in heavily with goals this season. Coutinho may not get the headlines but his game to goal ratio is strong.

Who cares? Game management has been an issue this season. Henderson killing a counter is small potatoes and certainly not his standout moment in a really good individual performance.

Long is dire

He is a walking example of that pundit cliche "He works hard and offers something different". Like being a striker that doesn't score.

I understand Southampton being stubborn in the summer, but they were stupid not to take the money and buy a striker or two that can score. Heck, they probably could have got a loan of Origi.

You'd cite shite supporters in your favour? Weird. Not to mention that it was Coutinho that slowed that particular counter attack by playing it behind Moreno, forcing him to go back to Henderson instead of take it in his stride.

He was a contender for second best MOTM after the obvious Salah, because he played well. For you to suggest he killed multiple counter attacks it's clear you have an agenda or didn't watch the match

A terrific performance, probably enjoyed that more than any other this season. What I felt would be a hard fought tense game turned out to be a very enjoyable afternoon, we looked comfortable from the moment Mo curled in the first.
There is only one MOM and that is Mo Salah but a number of others impressed , Trent , Albi, Coutinho, Winjaldum and Mane especially. Well happy with that and hopefuly Southampton supporters get back in their box and forget about this so called rivalry they've made up.

They are a small minded bunch of wasters. I have been to the last couple of games we have played at their place and they spend all their time baiting Lovren. They were at it again today. Glad they have a long journey home.............

Really? More deserving than Bobby? Phil?

Claiming that Hendo was MOTM is having an agenda.

I think he played well. But were any of our back 5 and Hendo really tested today?
