This is a very sensitive and emotional discussion for both families. It was a fight rather than calculated murder as such and by all accounts the lad handed himself in, cooperated and pleaded guilty. I'm not condoning anything at all here, just highlighting it's not someone that went out with a knife if you understand what I mean?

I dunno to be honest. May have turned himself in but didn’t stop the prick continuing with his night out and feeling no remorse in the morning sending texts boasting to his mates. personally think the punishment is way too short. May not have meant what he did but don’t fucking punch anyone in the first place.

Gutted for you and the lads family Cap, what is wrong with people - filling someone in and coming back to take pictures!?! :-\

Really hope he pulls through and everything works out alright.

I read this week the lad who killed Anthony Condron got 6 years. I know someone said earlier that it was a fight gone wrong and the lad handed himself in, but ultimately he threw a dig that killed a man.

Same time I read a Prison Guard got 9 years for taking drugs into jail, the fella had never committed a crime in his life. Not excusing what he done, but 9 years seemed excessive.

Seems to me if you commit a crime involving making the government look stupid, or involving money, you get punished more than taking a life.

The sentence on the prison guard was right (after all he was allowing a gang and drug culture to continue in jail), the sentence on the manslaughterer, who seemed to have picked on the victim, was far too lenient.

Shit, Capon, hope your cousin pulls through ok.

A couple of mates were out that end of town that night, so I’ll ask if they saw anything. I’m sure they would have said something if they had, but will ask anyway.

Bastards. No need for that. What the fuck do they get out of it?

Heard a story the other week that made my blood boil, was in town for a few afternoon bevs and found ourselves in the lounge at 60 Hope Street swigging Peroni *disclaimer* prices are ludicrous!
Anyhow, they had two pleasant Hungarian ladies working behind the bar and we struck up a conversation with them.

One of the ladies was pregnant and lives with her husband by Eldonian Village, she told me they no longer feel safe in Liverpool and will be moving back to Hungary in the near future. Obviously I asked what had happened to make her feel this way, firstly she told me that after her shift she rides her bike from Hope Street back home, she is constantly faced with youths either jumping out in the road to make her fall off or swerve, or they throw stones at her!

Secondly, and the reason they have had enough, a few months ago at home they noticed a group of kids collecting the ducks/swans from the canal by Eldonian Village and placing them in the middle of Vauxhall Road so the passing traffic would run them over!

The pair of them were obviously horrified at this (as anyone would be) and the husband confronted them, telling them to stop. Needless to say 30 minutes later they are back mob handed (about 15 of them she said) and the husband ends up getting thrown in the canal whilst they throw bricks at him.  :no

She said they are genuinely scared to stay and stuff like this wouldn't happen in Hungary.

Not being funny but what the fook goes through their minds to not only maim an animal deliberately, but then to dry and fookin drown someone who takes exception to you.

Moved away from that area just under a year ago. There was always a lot of gangs of scrotes knocking about that area, never personally experienced anything as bad as that like but it's definitely not a nice part of the city to live.

Its not a nice area to be fair. Even so in not condoning that, it's horrible to have to experience it.

Me personally I can't preach when it comes to being a little bastard as a kid. I robbed from shops, egged houses, buses etc .Didnt even think that I could cause real upset or harm if I caused an accident, you just don't think. But they'll always be a few lads which take it further, the ones that want to kill animals or physically hurt people. I used to knock about with a lad like that, we used to live not far from a little chicken farm (well it was a field with chickens in anyway). I found out him and another lad had been in there during the night and chopped the heads off the chickens, just to see if they'd run about without one.

He ended up dying in a car crash on the m1. Karma I guess.

I'm hearing about gangs of between 50 and 70 kids on bikes congregating and intimidating in the city centre on Sundays - is this new or has it gone on for a while?

By all accounts the Police seem to be slow getting on top of it or enforcing a dispersal.

It's true but they are not intimidating at all. I cycle at the minute as a living and I see them most weekends mate. They pull wheelies and that going through town and I actually fucking love it being a cyclist as it gives out a big statement to people and I love seeing shit loads of cars behind them all. They are actually or so it seems being mentored by a fella I'd say who is in his late 30's or early 40's. They were all having a chill a few weeks ago and the mentor fella was saying next week we'll go to New Brighton. I reckon it's a switched on idea to make the lids feel part of something and to channel it all into a group energy and to have something to look forward every weekend.

Tell you what . I've got legs like Yan Molby and an upper body that doesn't match them at all. Since I've started this job I reckon I've clocked up at least 4,000 / 5, 000 miles. Not kidding.

Playing chicken?

I had a bit of an issue with young lads last night. Yep. The little twats were on bikes. I cycled up Smithdown and through Grove Park and headed towards Myrtle Street. There was about ten of them on bikes and they made it hard for me too pass. I managed to get through them but as a did I could hear a few getting closer. As I turned around one had a metal bar about three foot long and was trying to jam it in me back wheel so I braked and jumped off me bike . He threw it at me and it hit the ground . I picked it up and ran a bit towards them and they fucked off. Still a bit mad me you know. As I walk back to my bike with the bar in my hand one of them must have cycled past me when the other lad threw the bar . He is cycling towards to and seen me with the bar in my hand and yes I thought about it . What stopped me is that I seen the face of a frightened child. He must have been about 13 or 14 so I let him past. If I was being attacked or felt threatened I wouldn't of even thought about it and his head would've been split but I just couldn't do it.

Anyway.

Rats out in force. Police don't have the resources to get on top of it due to relentless cuts. And you can blame the cuts to social work and school support as well. All gone. The kids don't get the support any more.

True. The incident happened on Saturday night and as I cycled down the hill and onto Berry Street it seemed every bizzie in town was there as some lad climbed up on a roof .

Glad you're ok Kesey. I drove down the strand on Saturday night and there was a big mob of kids on bikes by the Tesco metro store. First time I've seen them in such numbers.

On a different note, I read that some fella got mugged and hit on the head with an axe in Prince's Park on Saturday afternoon. The world's fucking mad.

Stay safe, mate.

Will do. I know I am always taking a chance by standing up to them. Saying that if you run the chances are they'll be right after you.  I guess sussing the situation at hand is an inate skill that some of us have. A bit like being clocked at an away game when you know it's time to get on your toes.

Father-in-law was in hospital recently and was sharing a ward with a fella (now in his late 40s I'd say) who was attacked in Cressington about 10 years ago. This fella was out walking his dog with his wife, when a group of five lads walked towards them and tried to pick up the dog and take it. He wrestled the dog back off one of the lads, passed it back to his wife and told her to leg it. She and the dog got away and he got battered.

Now the thing is he's never recovered from the physical injuries, which in itself is bad enough as he's restricted to walking with a frame and has to piss into a bag, but he also suffered from permanent brain damage, had to leave his job (can't remember what it was but it was a professional position, a teacher or lecturer if memory serves) and his wife has since left him (and as shitty as it is I think it'd take someone of strong character not to). He's obviously lucid enough to recount those details, but from my short amount of time with him in my 4 or 5 visits to the ward he repeated the same questions over and over and on one occasion spent 30 minutes lying on the floor and didn't want to get back up. He's now in and out of hospital with problems linked to his diabetes and is trying to secure some form of assisted accommodation in a hospice. What a fucking life.

I'm not actually too sure where I'm going with this but how can any sort of justice make up for what has been inflicted upon this poor fella? To go from a clearly intelligent, married (I don't want to dramatise this by pretending to know the state of their marriage so I'll refrain from adding 'happily') man in the prime of his life to a point where many people might well rather be dead than be held prisoner in your own body like he is. I'm not sure I could handle it - not well enough to live an independent life but cogent enough to see what a shitty hand you've been dealt and knowing you'll never have anyone there by your side. And even if you did have someone would you want to put them through it? It's the halfway house from fucking hell. I didn't ask if they ever caught the lads involved because it just felt a bit voyeuristic at that point but maybe he'd have appreciated me doing so. In hindsight I think I regret not talking to him more about it.

Anyway I suppose my point is that consequences don't even enter some people's heads. If those lads were faced with him now would they be wracked with guilt or would they pull out their phone and take a photo? Who knows. Whether we blame individuals or the society that created them is another matter. Would there still be horrible bastards even if we lived in a utopia? I'd have thought so.
