They still do the cheapest meal free on mains?  Couple of months since i've been but never had a bad meal.
Didi Hamann

In the corridors and changing rooms of Anfield I met many people - the great, the talented, the legendary.  I know that I only met one genius.  He was a small, smiling man with a neatly clipped beard.  His name was Rafael Benitez.

Went there today for a roast dinner, can't say I was too impressed with the meal to be honest. I knew I shouldn't have been a tight get and should have got myself one of those mammoth mixed grills!

Has anyone tried the new Italian Club Fish place on Bold Street? Going there for a mate's birthday on Thursday night.

Food in there is only noteworthy for its averageness, You pay for the 'theatre' which as you mentioned disn't even that good. I've been once and i wouldn't go back.

If you don't like soy then maybe Japanese isn't the best for you, although i would try it again at a better place, as there are lots of different dishes.
Suprised the Sapporo only gets a six in here, thought it was excellent meself. The tomato sauce joke is getting boring though. Duck in barbecue sauce, splendid.

I thought the food was pretty good (although I have had a lot better).  Had one of the set menu's.  Think it was the Banzai.  Had a class time as well.  Went with work but would recommend it to anyone takin a bird out for somethin a bit different as it has a bit more of a party atmosphere than italians etc.
Your location suggests you're from Anfield so you must know the score up there. The 30th is cup final day so its not going to be normal in town.

I do live in Anfield, yes - hence I have no need to eat round the corner! I know which chippys are ok but have never eaten at any local pubs. Most don't tend to do food before a mid-week match anyway.
We're going to see Beating Berlusconi at the Lighthouse in Oakfield Road on Sat so it would just be handy to meet up and have something to eat nearby beforehand. Hence, not really worth going into town and out again. Could always just have my tea before I leave instead.  :-\

It's a bit of a guess, never having eaten there but if I had to take a punt on one of the pubs in the area I'd probably try the Cabbage

Lovely curry in the Gulshan, never had a bad meal.

My parents however swear by the one a couple of doors down. I can't remember the name but it is bloody good too.

God i miss curry.

Madhari.

It's very good, but not sure it's better than the Gulshan.
Definitley cheaper.

The Tai Pan on Derby Road have a dim sum trolley going round on a Sunday morning- well, the last time I was in there on a Sunday they did. They give you a card which they just stamp every time you get something off the trolley and you settle up at the end. They have a pretty good normal dim sum menu too. Never had a bad meal in there :)

My mate just opened a noodle bar on Smithdown Road, called Wok It or something like that.

Anyone seen it? Anyone been?

Its catering for students mainly, cheap and cheerful, and big portions.

Its also healthy and ethical (recycled packaging etc).

Can't go myself because i'm not in Liverpool, but if anyone wants to give an honest review i'd be really happy to read it.

went to nandos on sat after so many people saying how great it was.

thought it was just boring to be honest. the sides were all rubbish, we got peri chips, spiced rice and garlic bread....none of which i'd want again and got lemon and herb chicken which was ok and hot flavour chicken which just tasted burnt.

£21 for 2 of us i think, wont be going back there. Rather have a decent pub meal with more choice.

I used to love it, Food was Beautiful  and then when I went to eat there 2 years ago it was shite then went a couple times after and it was shite again :-\. still good for your money though IMO

I like the food  from the Chinese buffet across the rode from there as well, near that Argos if its still there  ???. although it was small and the waiters were dead snotty ( I took my nephew there,  I only ordered stuff for meself and then i gave some chips to the little guy and they told me of :no)

Anyway we haven't planned anything for her yet but I'm going to suggest having a family and close friends meal on her birthday and then a party before or after her birthday with a load of people.

Went to Cafe Sports Express last night, the one in Liverpool One.

The staff were friendly and mostly helpful, though one could do with a bit if training. "Yes, it does make a difference that this is a soup spoon and it's for my dessert!" The others were all great though.

How many went?: 2
Food: Penne Primavera (as I had enjoyed it so much in the other branch) - very nice though could do with being a bit hotter. It was only barely warm from the start.

My mate had the Beef & Chicken Kebab which was better in that respect, and was a huge plateful with chips and salad - seemed good value and she said it was lovely.

Desserts - Banana Split and Chocolate brownie, both served with ice cream - delicious.

Venue: Wimbledon on every screen of course, given Murray was playing, though didn't mind that. We'd expected it to be on. Toilets clean. Tables clean.

My only other comment would be that they whizz things from under you almost too quickly - I still had wine in my glass when she took it and had to call for it back! Similarly, when we paid, as soon as we dropped the notes down on top of the bill, it was whizzed away - before we had had chance to add some coins for a tip!!  :o  Their loss....! ::)

Would you go again?: Yes, no reason not to, although I'd say the other branch edged it overall from our 2 experiences.

Price: £48 for that, including 2 rounds of drinks. Little bit dear, but not bad.

Overall score
: 7.5  :D (I gave it 7, my mate 8!)

Restaurant Name: Pesto,
Location: Liverpool One
Link to their website: http://www.pestorestaurants.co.uk/5696/pages/home.aspx
How many went: 3 of us.
What was [roughly] ordered: It's a rip off of Tapas, just in an Italian style. We each had three dishes that was plenty, I had a chicken and sausage skewer, a mini cannelloni, and a some garlic and chilli potatoes. Very good. Mates vegetarian and she was spoilt for choice which is always a good thing I find. Can't remember what the other 2 had though. And 2 bottles of wine.
Review of the Food: Very good,
Review of the venue: Clean, tidy, good service, no complaints from me.
Would you go again? Certainly would.
Would you recommend it to friends and family? Indeed
Any known offers of fixed menus? Absolutely no idea.
Price Paid £59, which for a good feed with 2 bottles of wine is pretty good.
Overall score out of 10: I shall award it an 8.

Restaurant Name: Bistro Franc
Location: Hannover Street, near end of Duke Street

How many went: 2
It was a set lunch menu - only £7.95 for 3 courses. Mushrooms in garlice sauce. Seabreem Fillet with Veg, Side order of Fries, Creme Brulee, Parma ham and brushetta, roast beef dinner and banaffoee pie. 4 cokes.
Review of the Food: For the money you cant get much better really.
Review of the venue: Restaurant pretty nice. Better than Bistro Pierre another restaurant owned by same people  as ceilings much higher giving it a nicer feel/
Would you go again? Yep
Would you recommend it to friends and family? Yep for a quick lunch
Any known offers of fixed menus? Seemed to be different offers each day. One was £13.95 for 3 courses and a bottle of wine per person.
Price Paid £24, the roast dinner had a £3 supplement and fries were £2
Overall score out of 10: 8 for value for money

Went to La Vina tonight- can't be arsed writing a full review as I'm still stuffed!!

£14.95/head for a choice of 3 tapas and paella on a Sunday- plus they have got an offer of 50% ALL food throughout July which is a fantastic offer. Link below, just print and show when you ask for the bill. £40 bill chopped down to £24 tonight.

Cheers for that. Wanted an offer for the 11th - doubt I'll find a better deal! Not been there before but always enjoy tapas. Take it it was good? ;D
