I saw someone on Twitter saying it was cancelled
Shite, it's on the Echo site: http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/2012/06/22/liverpool-s-africa-oye-festival-cancelled-this-weekend-100252-31241465/

Apparently they couldn't set the stage up due to the weather?

Apparently they're saying they're working on organising an alternative event.

Bastard!  Spent over 40 quid to make me rum chai and its cancelled , however there's a party on today in The Picket on Jordan Street. I have emailed them asking if I can sell me rum chai . If they say no looks like I will be drinking rum chai for the next week.

Yeah, if you don't take your own booze then you lose really, it's only ten minutes to Lark Lane and back as well, or Bargain Booze on Aigburth Road. They're good enough to let you bring your own, take advantage.

That was the only bar I saw ( at the very back ).

Good day there on Saturday , but fucked up on the toilet situation . The Bar was at the very back of the field with the all the toilets being situated opposite next to the stage ( and a good 5/10 minute walk through the crowds to get to ) .Doesn't take a great deal of thought to plan really.

Mate went to a British Sea Power gig at the bombed out church last year and they had a solitary portaloo for the entire crowd .

Went yesterday with my kids. There was a great atmosphere and a fantastic amount of people. I can see this event getting bigger so my only gripe, despite it being free to get in, is the cost of the ale.
I paid £21 for 3 small Kopparberg, a tiny white wine and a can of Red Stripe, that's £4.20 each! Fucking scandalous really.
The Food & Drink festival is the same.

That is bad. I haven't been down to Oye this year but whenever I've gone in the past we've taken our own ale, can you still do that? I know you can't for the food festival but that's the point of it I guess that you buy it there.

Yeah you can and loads did mate. to be honest it's silly not to take you're own and have a sit & a binge but mine was just a flying visit to see me kids but it ended up costing me a few bob once I'd got a round and left them some money :)
I still object to being ripped though.
